5.0 out of 5 stars Very nice quality snokel gear
We bought these for a trip to the Caribbean so we would not have to rent equipment. Glad we did since this is very nice quality gear. Comes in travel bag that is ventilated so equipment can dry out even when stowed in the bag. Mask is nice 1-piece glass (better viewing under water), snorkel is terrific and does not let in water if you dive below water level, and fins...

2.0 out of 5 stars Leaky Mask
I had really high hopes for this product. The fins, snorkel, and bag are all really nice, and the fish feed is a nice touch too. However, my mask was incredibly leaky - I could never seem to get a good seal. I'm not sure whether my mask was defective or whether it's simply a poor design. My friend had a much cheaper US Divers mask and it worked well on both of us, so I...

Mask is nice 1-piece glass (better viewing under water), snorkel is terrific and does not let in water if you dive below water level, and fins are compact for travel, but work very well. Highly recommend purchasing this equipment rather than renting junk if you go on vacation!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Snorkel Set!, March 20, 2010
By
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
My wife and I recently bought this set for a trip to Turcks and Caicos. We thought the fins worked fine even though they were small. We had always used rental gear before and it is worth every penny to have a set like this. We had no problems with the mask or snorkel and snorkeled every day for a week. I where a mens shoe size 10 and bought the size large in the fins and they fit great. My wife wears a womens size 8.5 or 9 and she got medium fins and they were the right size for her.

The fins were comfortable but because we planned on doing a lot of snorkeling we also bought "Speedo Neo Fin Socks" from Amazon (both size medium) which fit great helped make sure we didn't get any blisters.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dry, July 7, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I used this set on an 8 day trip to Aruba and it was excellent. The snorkel was the best part. I like to dive down and the snorkel doesn't let any water in so you don't have to blow out any water when you come back up. Also in rough water, you don't have to worry about choking when the waves go over your snorkel. The small fins are also a lot easier to use than the full sized ones and they propel you plenty fast.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great set!, December 31, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I bought my husband this for Christmas and we went Snorkeling the next day. It was REALLY nice! The bag was really handy and nice. I bought a cheaper set for myself and was disapointed. He really liked the set and the fins were comfortable made with soft rubber around the feet and the mask and snorkel were excelent quality. I wish I would have bought this set for myself.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great lil Set, February 12, 2010

I bought this for a trip to the Cayman islands. The set arrived quickly, without the bag. However, there was a hand written note saying they were out of them and would I accept another bag free of charge (they will ship it when they get them). A nice touch. The quality is excellent. I recommend using straight dish soap on the inside to remove the film and then treat with a product called "spit". A good deal and high quality. The seller is awesome! Thanks

4.0 out of 5 stars Good set overall, May 3, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I bought this new set for my trip to Jamaica. It came very quickly and I tried everything out. The fins run small and I could not wear them. I bought the "LG (Mens 10.5-13 & Ladies 10.5+)" and I wear a size 12-13 shoe depending on the brand. My feet are wide, but I don't buy wide sizes, I just by brands that are more generous in that department. I called the vendor, Visibility Unlimited, and they recommended I try the National Geographic Fit fins. We arranged to exchange the Trek with the Fit, I paid the price difference in the list prices of about $10. These came quickly, the day before I left, and fit my wider foot great.

The mask is nice, though I found if I didn't have it positioned just right it put too much pressure on my upper lip and bottom of my nose. If you have a larger nose you might find this mask uncomfortable. I got used to positioning it just so, and was pleased with the performance and purge feature.

I used the neoprene mask strap the first couple times out, but I found the neo mask strap to be too bulky and made it harder to get the mask in its proper position on my head. I don't plan on using it again.

The snorkel was good, though I found that purging with the snorkel in the water to be harder than I expected. If you tilt your head up and get the valve above water it purges with great ease, but while in the water I often had to blow out really hard to get it to do its job. The water in the snorkel was only from me allowing it in from the mouth piece, usually while adjust my mask.

Overall I liked the equipment and loved dealing with the vendor. In the future though I might be tempted to put my own set together.

5.0 out of 5 stars The perfect snorkel gear set!, January 23, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
My boyfriend and I got this set -- medium for him (normally a 9.5 or so in men's shoes), small for me (5.5 in women's shoes) -- and it fit us both perfectly. Neither of us snorkels frequently except when we are on vacation, and this was perfect for our trip to Cancun. The mask fits snuggly, kept water out and stayed clear (after using some anti-fog -- we bought McNett Sea Drops). The snorkel was also easy to use and stayed dry even when we dove below the surface. The smaller fins were easier to swim with than the big floppy kind we have rented in the past. The set also comes in a really convenient single-strap bag. It's not exactly small, but I was still able to fit it into a carry-on suitcase with a week's worth of clothes. On days when we wanted to snorkel but also spend time sightseeing and laying out on the beach, I was able to put everything I needed in the snorkel bag and leave my purse behind. The whole thing can be slung over your shoulder. We drove around on a moped with these on our backs, and everything stayed in its place.

4.0 out of 5 stars Pretty Good, Could be better., May 5, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: U.S. Divers Sideview Mask, Paradise Dry Snorkel, Travel Trek Fins, Strap & Coast Bag Package (Misc.)
I used this set for a week of snorkeling in Hawaii.

The mask worked excellent, although it fogged up a lot which is probably normal. Buy some anti-fogger with it. The mask has a valve below the nose which makes it real easy to blow out water. The neoprene strap that comes with it makes it a lot more comfortable to wear, but the velcro on it can rub against your neck if it's not set up just right. The strap also holds the snorkel which was handy.
The bag is great. It holds everything nicely and has an extra pocket on the front which I used to hold my waterproof camera and mask anti-fog gel. I'd be careful with the zippers though.

The snorkel definetly prevented me from getting a big mouth full of water, but I would still get a little water inside now and then which kind of bubbles into your mouth when you take a breath. It probably was my inexperience with snorkeling that attributed to this. I could dive underwater no problem with it.

The fins were definetly nice to have as you have to fight against currents in the ocean. I also bought Tilos Neoprene Fin Socks, which make the fins much more comfortable to wear, but made them fall off a lot easier. These fins are much easier to use with out the socks. I plan on looking for a different pair of fins that won't fall off so easy while using the socks.

5.0 out of 5 stars X-mas gift for son for a trip to Culebra., January 28, 2011

I've been snorkeling for 25 years, but on this trip to Culebra with my wife and few friends, my 20-yr old son was also going and for the first time snorkeling! Our trip was in early January, 2011. After opening set, we discovered one strap was slightly broken, and wouldn't lock. Contacted the vendor, Visibility Unlimited, and they were prompt, cheerful and efficient with supplying a new strap (well done VU!), which we had in time.

Gear was just the right size for ease of packing, coming in its own kit bag, and even with a tube of fish food (cool!). I liked the quality and feel of each piece of gear, the mask being particularity nice. Son quickly learned to use properly, and we spent 4 hours a day in the water on the beautiful beaches and reefs of Culebra. Flippers perfect size, and kit bag handy for the day trips we took. Never had any problems in using the gear, and I would highly recommend the gear to anyone looking for a set, novice or experienced snorkeler alike.
