4.0 out of 5 stars Psychological Suspense in Connecticut, May 30, 2008
This is an entertaining suspense novel in the Laura vein. One can imagine a 1940s film noir movie starring Gene Tierney and Dana Andrews set in Connecticut, instead of the apparently lackluster British version that was produced. Caspary was a fine writer, and though the whodunnit and whathappened aspects are pretty clear about halfway through, the psychological suspense and descriptions of the manners of early 20th century Northeast upper middle class are fun.
