I had tried to order this last Christmas but it sold so well that it was out of stock!Great price & a great buy,i signed up for the waiting list & finally got it a couple of days ago.Its really hard to find a good map of the US & at a good price. This covers every state, has the major cities marked & the capitols are marked.I had looked at other maps in the store but never bought one because it didnt have the things i was looking for.Plus they were very expensive. This will help our child with learning where all the states are & to know the capitols. We all have to learn them for school & this is a fun way to do it.Also a way for the rest of the family to brush up on this information!

I don't know how they can sell this so inexpensively, as this puzzle is of very high quality and would be very beneficial to kids of all ages who need to learn more about US geography. I was surprised at how much my nephew enjoyed it, even though he is just six years old.

When we moved across the country, we decided to garage sale many of our daughter's toys, including this puzzle, which we assumed she had outgrown. As soon as we got to our new address, she demanded the puzzle and was alarmed to hear that we'd sold it. She has asked about it so often during the past year, that it is now clear to us: we need to purchase it again and will not discard it, even when the day comes for her to go to college! It truly helped her become the geography whiz she is now, at age 7! Parents out there: buy it and keep it! It's an amazing deal and a most educational toy.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good for older children..., July 15, 2005

It's a nice educational puzzle for more patient kids. Another reviewer said the pieces weren't interlocking, so I was warned, but I completely missed the significance. The bottom line is that the pieces are mostly cut in the shapes of the states, and do not lock together like a traditional puzzle. It takes pretty delicate handling to keep from accidentally knocking the states out of alignment. On the positive side, the pieces were sturdy and there was none of that puzzle dust that usually falls out.

I was looking for a puzzle that would have cut outs of the states, for my child to learn the states shapes. This is a pretty good deal, although some of the smaller upper north east states are merged together. It's easy to put together, except for the lower and side ocean blue areas of Hawaii and Alaska, a child younger than 7 may need help.

This puzzle is a great way to get your kids familiar with geography. My 3 and 5 year old now know where relatives live and recognize the United States in other formats. If your kids like puzzles, this one is a must have!

This puzzle was perfect for my 7 year old and attracted the interests of my 5 and 3 year old. Every homeschooler should look into purchasing this puzzle to enhance geography lessons.

Beware that not all of the pieces are interlocking. It can be a little frustrating for younger kids. Also, the area of the puzzle that is outside of the USA is completely different than what appears on the box. Otherwise, it is a nicely made product.

Picked this up at a local thriftshop for $.99. My 6 year old has done this puzzle many times and has learned the location of most states as well as many of the capitals. The only issue is that some outer pices don't "lock" like other puzzles we've done. All in all this is a great tool in helping a young child learn the location of states on the map.

I bought this looking for something a little more challenging for my 4-year-old puzzler. I really like that the states (the larger ones, anyway) are cut in their actual shapes. If I had to improve it, I would have included the names of the oceans and some type of guide so kids can figure out the "commerce" symbols on each state. For example, Tennessee (where I live) has a test tube. Does this refer to Oak Ridge Nat'l Laboratory or something else? I'm not aware that my state is known as a chemical exporter, which is the only other option.

Great puzzle; great value for $9 and I think it will challenge him for some time to come.
