5.0 out of 5 stars Works Great - Amazon's Web Page Is a Little Misleading At First
This item works great. Setup is easy. You take it out of the package, put the battery in it and You hang it on the door knob. When you come near it on the inside it doesn't make sound unless you get your hand really close (almost touching) to it on the inside.

However, if you are on the outside of the door and you reach for the door handle it goes off (BEEP,...

1.0 out of 5 stars Barking Dog Alarm
THIS ALARM DOES NOT BARK LIKE A DOG. WHEN I BOUGHT IT, I THOUGHT IT BARKED. I DON'T NO WHY THEY CALL IT A WATCHDOG DOOR KNOB ALARM. IT SOUNDS LIKE A LOUD CHIRPING BIRD. IT IS VERY SENSATIVE EVEN WHEN YOU WALK BY IT.

1.0 out of 5 stars No Barking Dog--just a Diddle sound, November 7, 2009

I bought the WatchDog Door Alarm so that It would alert me and my old-no-longer-barking-dog of a problem. My neighborhood is having a problem with break-ins and I thought the barking dog would not terrorize my dog. However, I discovered no bark but a tweedle-tweedle sound. Perhaps some dog somewhere in the world, or in cartoons, barks like that, but it wouldn't scare anyone away.

If I'd seen it in a store, I surely would have passed it by.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not a good product, November 19, 2010

There is only one switch: "on" or "off". There is only one sound and it is not a barking dog (this does not bother me). The device works by conductivity / continuity through the door handle, if it is touched. It DOES NOT work off motion. When the door knob is released, the device stops alarming (no time delay). I could kick open the door and it would not alarm. This device does NOT work on aluminum or other metal doors. It only works on wooden doors with metal door knobs.

I own a similar device that works soley off motion using what I suspect is a mercury switch. It works great and I wish I had several more until I upgrade to a full security system. If you knock on the door, it will set the alarm off. It keeps alarming until the motion stops for 30 seconds. Unfortunately, there is no company name on it. There is just a made in China sticker and it says "Digital" on the front. It has a digital clock with an alarm and flashlight built in. It was made for a hotel door alarm for a traveler.

This item does not do as advertised. It makes no barking sounds whatsoever. It simply sounds a hideous noice. Very disappointing.

In the description is says you can switch this item between a barking dog or a siren. There is NO switch, it is a siren only and not loud enough to scare off a fly let alone a burglar. What a rip off and the description is a lie.

Today I received the product, and the wire that goes around the door handle was not connected, and it did not work. This produce is very poorly made. Amazon should remove it from its products to preserve their good name. Thank you.

This is not want I thought the Watchdog door alarm would be. I should have just but a sign on my door saying come on in. My kids are better watchdogs. I will never waist my money on anything like this again. To good to be true.

1.0 out of 5 stars if it wasnt broken it might have worked, April 15, 2011

I ordered 2 of these and both of them were broken upon receipt. The plastic "handle" that connects the wiring to the alarm had been pulled apart on the 2 of them. Would not recommend an item that breaks or is already broken upon shipment. If there were a negative star, that is what it deserves.
Thumbs down :( :(

This item works great. Setup is easy. You take it out of the package, put the battery in it and You hang it on the door knob. When you come near it on the inside it doesn't make sound unless you get your hand really close (almost touching) to it on the inside.

However, if you are on the outside of the door and you reach for the door handle it goes off (BEEP, BEEP ...) which is what it is supposed to do.

It doesn't go off on my front door if the storm door is closed too. Once the storm door is open and you reach for the actual front door then it goes off. I think this is perfect. If someone comes and stands at my front door and rings my bell, I don't necessarily want to run/scare them off.

People are complaining in these reviews that this doesn't bark and others are complaining that the specifications never say that it does...

Well, it would be nice if barking was an option if the barking sounded realistic. Amazon's product description says, "US Patrol Watchdog Door Alarm Barking knob alarm sounds like a guard dog or switch to the piercing siren so intruders stay away".

Not only that, the way Amazon has a picture of a barking dog next to the item showing sound waves implies that it does bark like a dog.

Amazon needs to update this product's description.

I also have that Safety Technology STI ED50 ED-50 Rex Plus Watchdog which barks. It's barking is not nearly as realistic as I had imagined so maybe were better off without the fake barking (especially if it sounds fake)
