Pretty nice watch; loose clasp; easily scratched
on March 4, 2011
I got this watch as a Christmas gift last year (2010 Christmas).
The instructions that came with it were less than helpful. They also made it seem like it would be easy to shorten the watch band, but that was not true. I took it to a jeweler to shorten it, now it doesn't fall off, nor does the clasp open (a problem the other reviewer had because his watch was too loose). The clasp would open when the watch was loose - I like that the clasp works easily, actually. The jeweler scratched up the watch band pretty bad while shortening it, so I think that the gunmetal finish is kind of cheap.
I get many compliments on the watch; it looks nice and goes with everything I'm wearing. I'm not used to the digital and analog format and the watch hands are difficult to see; I would have preferred them in a more contrasting color, I think. The glow-in-the-dark feature has not worked for me (yet?) so I don't know if it does anything.
I like that it lights up blue. The green glowing watches make me think of nuclear waste or something, haha. I used the alarm the other day and it went off for thirty seconds, but I wish it would keep going because it takes longer than that to wake me up!
If I had my choice in watches, in the same price range, I would still stick with one of the same (or similar) coloring, with a dark watch face and light hands, and have the date and alarm parts be analog as well; it just looks classier. I think people are unsure what to think of this watch when looking at it. It's too gadgety. Also the small side displays that do something at every second are a little annoying. I had no idea what the parts were for until the alarm was set. They're unnecessary and distracting. The watch already has second-by-second movement with the second hand. It doesn't need extras. It's like they wanted the watch to be functional without the analog part. Maybe it's good for someone learning to tell time? The one display that I set to 24 hour time is nice when I wake up and don't know what time it is (am or pm) but besides that, which is rare, it doesn't really matter.
