My first ship kit and boy was I surprised. This is not a kit for the faint of heart. Almost every part has to be hand made. Very few cut outs or complete parts. This is not a toy, but a very serious undertaking. Everything is in the kit except tools, glue, sandpaper, paint, patience, and hundreds of hours of labor. Although a difficult and time consuming hobby, it is also very rewarding. Instructions are O.K. but you will need to do a lot of thinking and engineering. Very small parts and lots of them, to be fitted into very small places with very small tolerance for error. If you enjoy a challenge and are handy with just about everything, and have nerves of steel, the eyes of a hawk, the patience of Job, and hundreds of hours of time you will enjoy this. I am happy with the kit materials, instructions(could be better) and customer service from Constructo (the Manufacturer).

5.0 out of 5 stars Not a toy!!, September 10, 2010

I've built Constructo models before, and they are tops. I expect this one will take me a couple months @ 4 hours most days to complete the hull. The masts and rigging will go in after I have made a move I contemplate, so they won't be damaged. I expect this to be my largest ship model, and I probably won't fully set the sails to keep the dust at bay. I expect excellence from the kit, although there are always a few iffy questions.
