4.0 out of 5 stars Good Little Stamp
This is a good little stamp. It is plastic, and doesn't seem like it will last forever, but what do you want for the price. If you only stamp the date once or twice per day, this little stamp will work just fine for you. If you do a lot of stamping, I would reccomend a heavier duty date stamp. Apparently the Trodat 4850 comes in different colors, the picture shows a...

3.0 out of 5 stars Flimsy, but works well
As another review suggests, this stamp is adequate for light duty applications. The inclusion of an ability to print in red is probably unnecessary, and makes it much more difficult to configure the stamp.

All in all, I wish I had spent a few dollars more for a more substantial product.

Apparently the Trodat 4850 comes in different colors, the picture shows a grey one, but the one I got was black. It appears to the exact same thing, just a different color plastic. I found a picture of my black stamp online, and I posted it here.

It's much smaller than I would have expected. The quality seems OK. I don't think it will last very long.

I bought two. One works fine, the other does not print properly.

4.0 out of 5 stars Works like a charm, but needed a bit of modification for my use, June 3, 2011

I have to sign and date dozens of documents per day in my work and this works fine for that purpose. I left off the optional red-ink words that come with it ("Paid", etc) so that I get just a blue-ink date, which is what I need. The image shows the date-month-year (dd-mmm-yyyy) format but mine arrived in the mmm-dd-yyyy format. I simply took it apart and put it together in the order I desired so that it matches the format required for my business, which took a modest amount of mechanical ability but no tools. I find that it works better with the foot plate removed as far as producing a legible date. Well worth the money for my day to day use.
