Book Description

Us News Ultimate College Guide October 2003
Complete profiles of more than 1400 four-year colleges.

The directory includes all the latest data you need to know about the schools that you’re considering from degrees offered and most popular majors to admissions information and critical deadlines; from the makeup of the student body and types of student organizations to total costs and financial aid available, including each school’s rank in the latest U.S. News survey.

For 20 years, students and parents have relied on U.S.News & World Report to provide accurate, comprehensive college data. Now, for the first time, the No. 1 expert in education information is publishing the must-have, all-in-one college directory with exclusive data to help find the best college for you.

Featuring complete data on more than 1400 college and universities, The U.S.News & World Report Ultimate College Directory 2004 is the best source for the information students and parents need most. Equally important, it also includes the essential step-by-step guide to the often stressful process of choosing a college, getting in and finding the money, plus exclusive lists and indices to help compare the schools.

Founded in 1933, Washington DC-based U.S.News & World Report delivers a unique brand of weekly magazine journalism to its 12.2 million readers. In 1983, U.S. News began its exclusive annual rankings of American colleges and universities. The U.S. News education franchise is second to none, with its annual college and graduate school rankings among the most eagerly anticipated magazine issues in the country.

Editorial Reviews

From Publishers Weekly

Privileging cold hard facts over editorial commentary, this businesslike guide to more than 1,400 American colleges is a bit daunting. Each entry bombards would-be students with information on average SAT scores of entering students, application deadlines, popular majors, tuition, sports programs and housing options. Although the bulk of the book comprises the listings (which are organized by state), a hefty beginning section offers articles on how to choose a school, what colleges look for in applicants and how to assemble a "killer application," along with worksheets and organizers. It's here that quirky-and helpful-information abounds, such as a list of schools that don't require SAT or ACT scores, and a selection of tips for homeschoolers. The rest of this hulking volume concerns itself with minutiae, such as the number of volumes a library has or how many clubs and organizations exist at a college.
