5.0 out of 5 stars THE MAN!!, April 3, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Mama U-Seapa (Audio CD)
steve ferguson is WELL known in the music world but not known to most of the public. he is the GREATEST guitarist that has ever played. period! jimi hendrix used to watch this man play in NYC. he has played with clapton, the headhunters etc... los lobos watched in awe as he opened a show for them in detroit. the original guitarist for NRBQ is solo now and making the best music of his career. if your ever able to see him live it will be the best experience of your life! buy the album and share it with all your friends and you will be a loyal fan like all those who listen to him before you. ferguson is THE MAN!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Down in the root cellar with the blues, May 11, 2004

Ferguson finds his own mysterious muse in the sounds of New Orleans. NRBQ's original guitarist is part musical archivist, part myth-maker; the accompanying story of Mama-U-Seapa in the liner notes is a saga of music, murder and "easy virtue." The music, with the help of the Midwest Creole Ensemble, is a house-rent party: there's Piano Red's "Coo-Cha" and "Right String Baby," a cover of the Time's "Jungle Love," and a batch of Ferguson originals with titles like "Pig Latin Love Song" dressed up with a horn section. Most of NRBQ make guest appearances, and Chuck Berry's piano player Johnnie Johnson is along for the ride, too. Play this one loud, and just make sure you invite the neighbors!
