5.0 out of 5 stars Good look at DELTA, the SEALs, & the Rangers, October 18, 1999
This review is from: U. S. Special Forces (Motorbooks Power) (Hardcover)
The full title of this book is US SPECIAL FORCES: AIRBORNE RANGERS, DELTA & U.S. NAVY SEALS. It is a compilation of three books previously published by Motorbooks. Each book is heavily illustrated. The Rangers book is by Alan & Frieda Landau, the DELTA book is by D.M. Giangreco & Terry Griswold, the SEALs book is by Hans Halberstadt.

Of the three books, I am particularly impressed by the work of Giangreco and Griswold. Unlike the Rangers and SEALs, DELTA has been kept shrouded in such secrecy, that most written accounts about it are loaded with inaccuracy. These authors have written a very informed text and added some great photos.

They provide a discussion of DELTA's history, a look at its weapons and equipment, what goes into making a DELTA trooper, rotary and fixed-wing assets used by DELTA, and conclude with two chapters on DELTA's work in Desert Shield/Storm, especially hunting Iraqi Scuds.

If you want an informed picture of US special operations capabilities, check out this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Intro To 3 Of Americas Special Forces, June 11, 2003
This review is from: U. S. Special Forces (Motorbooks Power) (Hardcover)
This was my first real book on US Special Forces. Although I have had it now for several years, I still enjoy reviewing it every so often. It is written in a very down-to-earth, personal style, while at the same time is information-packed and very educational. Fun to read, never boring. A great book for a look at the US Army Rangers, Delta Force, and Navy SEALs.

3.0 out of 5 stars It could be a lot better in certain parts !, July 19, 2000
This review is from: U. S. Special Forces (Motorbooks Power) (Hardcover)
It is a good book but it could be a lot better if they had woorked a litle more over it. It has some inacurate pictures,in one of then they say a soldier is using a german machine gun while it is a Belgium design that in the States is named M240. Also the chapter about Delta and the Rangers is very old, old pictures old text and old weapons, they should have updated it and put some more pictures. The good part is that it has great stories about real missions and it has good details on weapons, military aircraft and other stuff. The chapter about the Seals is medium, some nice pictures and some nice text. In global its a book that an expert would find very poor in actualization and pictures but that a normal person would find very interesting. Good readings to you all.
