This a Disposable printer., November 14, 2007
This review is from: U-print One Color Cd DVD Disc Thermal Printer (Electronics)
Do not buy this printer!
I have had this printer for less than 6 months and it stopped being recoginized by the computer.
I called and emailed tech support and since there is only a 90 day warranty, their advice was to purchase another printer.
Do not buy this printer!

I use this printer almost every day and it works very well, April 6, 2008
This review is from: U-print One Color Cd DVD Disc Thermal Printer (Electronics)
I needed a printer to print on blank cd/dvd's. I tried several out. I've tried the inkjet printers. They were expensive sloppy and the ink runs out fast. The ink rubs off the disc as well unless you use the printable discs. I've tried the Stomper and it works very well but throws the disc out balance. I decided to give this little printer a try. Much to my suprise it prints great and it's continued to print great for the last two years. It works best on completely blank discs though I have successfully printed on all types of discs with satisfactory results. You should shoot for discs with no writting from the manufacture like disc size, manufature name, or logo. They should be completely blank. If there is writing or designs on the disc surface it's not the end of the world. Once you get the hang of it you can work around the text. The key is not to print over the text on the disc. The thermal ink won't stay attached to a raised or indented surface. Also don't be confused by the printable discs. They will work but you don't need to use them. They were designed for inkjet printer and have painted surface.
The printing program that this printer comes with is easy to use. You can insert graphics if you want but I only have printed text.
The Good:
Easy to use, great quality print, compact size, good price.
The Bad:
Finding thermal replacement cartridges has been difficult. Everyone says they have them but when it comes time to ship almost no one has them. I've heard you can use the Primera Signature Z1® CD/DVD Printer Ribbons from Quill for $21.99 but I haven't tried this myself.
Also it's best that you plug the printers usb in after you boot the system. For some reason it sometimes causes my system hang on startup when the usb is plugged in. If you do leave it plugged in and your system starts fine then you may have to unplug the usb and reconnect it to get it to respond. The problem is most likely my system but I thought you should know.

This U-print Printer stinks,, April 17, 2009
This review is from: U-print One Color Cd DVD Disc Thermal Printer (Electronics)
We've used this particular printer at work. After receiving it and setting it up it worked great out of the box. Then shortly after a year it just stopped printing. First, it stopped because the ribbon was done, but it gave no warning to the fact that was the problem. Second, it stopped again and this time we changed the ribbon, but it still didn't work. Yet one day I decided to hook it up to the computer again and it started working again. If you were to take a look at our printer one would believe that we hardly ever use it because it's in such good shape. Thirdly, the biggest thing that really angers me is the fact that the maker of printer will not take responsibility for the warranty of the product which they make, but instead leaves the technical and warranty issues to whoever you purchase the printer from. I mean I had the hardest time just to get the tech rep and his supervisor to say that they would not and do not honor the warranty of the printer. I must admit that I have never heard of a company not honoring its own warranty for the very equipment that it makes and supplies the various retailers who sell their product. All I can say is don't bother buying this printer because it's a piece of junk for all intensive purposes. It really doesn't deserve a single star, but because it did work when first opened that's all I'll give it. Warning, stay away from this printer and the company that makes it. By the way the company that makes this printer also makes it under a few different label names and so far that I've seen one in the color of white.
