Not only a must for U2 fans, but a whole new way to look at music,
By Yellow House (NJ) - See all my reviews
This review is from: U2itude: The ultimate handbook for U2 fans (Paperback)
Written with an enthusiasm spilling over into outright passion, "U2itude" offers an authoritative song-by-song look at U2's discography plus something else -- an objective method to evaluate your favorite songs, whether they're by U2 or not. This is worth the price of the book alone, but the authors' obvious love of the band, combined with their personal anecdotes and highly opinionated lists, make it a must-read not just for U2 fans, but for anyone who's ever screamed their lungs out when the lights finally went out and the concert was just beginning. If you've ever walked out of a record store unwrapping your new purchase already, this is the book for you.

By MCSL (Miami, FL USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: U2itude: The ultimate handbook for U2 fans (Paperback)
This book is written for all U2 fans, by 2 guys who are huge fans themselves! The book takes a close look at all the songs, and rates them! It is fun to read their ratings, and to read how these songs have touched their life! The book gives you a space to rate each song yourself. It is fun to sit down & rate the songs yourself & debate it with a friend! A book all fans will love!

I got this book as a Christmas present from the girlfriend....,

and it pissed me off so much, I made her send it back. I really was going to go into a bunch of detail about my feelings and how pretentious I thought the authors are, but the review below totally sums up my feelings. If you had no real familiarity with U2 or wanted to know more about the music, without taking the time to come up with your own opinions, then this would be the book for you. But if you are a fan, I can't imagine actually wanting to pay money for someone to tell you what they think of the songs. If you are looking for insite into the music of U2, buy "U2 By U2" and pass on this.

This review is from: U2itude: The ultimate handbook for U2 fans (Paperback)
This book is a must have for the U2 fan, written by two guys who, you can tell, are really huge U2 fans. The authors provide personal anecdotes from their years of listening to the band and seeing them live. On top of that they provide an interactive guide to rating their songs and albums and they have some really great playlists (for just about any occasion) for you iPod.

Love and Peace or Else,
By Tasha Blasi (NJ) - See all my reviews
This review is from: U2itude: The ultimate handbook for U2 fans (Paperback)
The last two angry reviewer did not get this book at all. Not only does this book have heart and obviously come from TRUE U2 fans, but the authors really came up with a unique system to rating songs. I agree, it makes me think of all songs in a different, more thoughful way. I really enjoyed this book and cannot wait to put their top 50 on a playlist.

I love "Lemon!",
By A Fan (NY) - See all my reviews
This review is from: U2itude: The ultimate handbook for U2 fans (Paperback)
I just read it. I liked it very much. It made me want to debate Sal and Sorgie on some of their ratings ( I love "Lemon"), which is precisely the point. They've been debating each other for years (hence the book).
One claim they make is that I'll never listen to a u2 song in the same way. They may just have a point! It deserves a spot on my U2 book shelf. It's a fun read, entertains and informs. What more could you want! To give a percentage of it's profit to a great cause, perhaps? It does just that. Great job, guys. |
