Product Description

UCO candles are custom engineered for use in UCO Candle Lanterns. The candles come in three different configurations – the original 9-hour, dripless white candle, a 9-hour insect-repelling citronella candle, and a 12+ hour natural beeswax candle. All feature high-grade wax formulas that burn clean and free of soot. The candle wicks are specially designed to maintain an even flame height, making them ideal for use in lanterns. UCO candles are equally well suited for to a variety of indoor and outdoor uses, including emergency power outages or simply providing warm, ambient light. Available in economical 3-packs or bulk 20-packs, be sure to keep your emergency kit and/or camping gear stocked with extra UCO 9+ hour candles.

Customer Reviews

Fits the UCO candle lantern perfectly.
D barton
They burn very well and aren't made of cheap wax that other candles at the dollar store are made of.
Carl Lavoie
These are great to keep in the house for power outages or to toss in your BOB.

I love beeswax candles so when I saw that UCO was making them for their candle lanterns I was so excited!

While these work ok, I think they're maybe using the wrong wick size. The candle I have been using burns unevenly to the point it starts to burn over the rim of the holder. Also, you need to trim these to keep the wick down where the white candles don't really need this.

On the plus side they are more enviromentally sound and have a lovely aroma.

If UCO would work on the wick and burning issue, then they would have a great product. I think they used the same molds and wicks as the their traditional white candles completely ignoring the fact that beeswax burns differently and needs to be managed accordingly.

They really need to team up with Blue Corn Candles (who specializes in beeswax) and make a superior product. I would gladly pay the $10+ for these if they were as efficient as the their traditional white candles.

First: Yes, they are really very expensive for candles.

These fit into UCO (or similar) breakdown candle lanterns. The lanterns usually come with paraffin candles, which are great and last a long time. These replacement candles are made from beeswax, however. They do last considerably longer than the paraffin versions. What I really like about them, however, is that they give off a really pleasing, mild scent as they burn. I use these when I'm illuminating the inside of my tent or cabin rather than the other ones. I also appreciate that they are a natural resource.

The quality is high, and they burn very evenly and as long as advertised. My experience is that the wicks on these have been self-trimming and have never broken off between uses. These seem to have held up well in the hot environments of the desert, my enclosed gear box, and the interior of my truck, never melting to the point of being misshapen.

But the cost, you say? Well, yeah. For me, it's a value proposition: I enjoy and prefer the gentle glow of candlelight when I'm camping or backpacking, over the bright light and hiss of my white-gas-driven light whenever I can help it. They do last a good, long while, too, and I figure that the per-hour cost of these set me back a little over a quarter. That, and the fact that they cost only a little more than the paraffin version for an emergency/camping light that will never run out of batteries or suffer a broken mantle make them well worth it for me. That, and the fact that there is nothing that smells quite like a burning beeswax candle. Besides, I go through these so slowly that I don't have to buy them that often.

Five stars for a high quality, well-made product that lasts.

Truth in advertising. They are good candles that fit the candle lanterns. Mine seem to last closer to 10-11hrs but I'm not burning them straight through or keeping an exact watch on them.

Clean burning, easy to clean up and they travel and store well. Good buy.

These candles were great- very citronellaesque. Candles were double wrapped, due to the fragrance I suppose. Its weird but I had the same wick problem as other reviewers where I had to use a tooth pick to pull the wick up and back to the middle of the candle, but the problem did not persist and, thus, was not a biggie. These were actually less expensive that the regular UCOs and cost less on amazon than I could find them locally. I freeze these UCO candles before use and get 15- 20 hours.

These candles are the best I have found and work wonderfully in the UCO candle lanterns. They are an easy burn and last quite awhile. They are so good you really don't need to trim them much if you use them multiple times (rather than one long burn). They also burn very evenly which is a must!

They are shipped directly from UCO and and are well made. Can't say one bad thing about them.

I've used the paraffin candles for years and they work great. Just enough light to keep the evening pleasant. The beeswax version lasts quite a bit longer, 12+ hours, but is not quite as bright. Also, the mice like these so keep that in mind for storage both in the field and at home.

These burn nice and bright in the candle lanterns and last just as long too. They have the added ability to keep those nasty skeeters away too though and that is a BIG plus in my book. Nothing is more distracting while you are trying to read or get things done that the sound of a mosquito in your ear. I know you know what I am talking about too. ZZZZZZZZeeeeeeeeerrrrrrzzzzzzzeeeeee

These burn nice and long and make no horrible smell yet they keep the mosquitoes away from camp and my ears. They are not any more expensive than the regular candles so I can't see any reason not to use these all summer long.
