Product Description

Introduction.
This UCtech USB 3.0 to SATA + IDE converter adapter allows you to connect any 2.5" or 3.5" SATA / IDE drive and SSD to your computer through a USB 3.0 interface. The SATA one can support 3TB Max.
The USB 3.0 port is fully backward compatible with USB 2.0, with maximum transfer speed of 5Gbps. (The actual transmission rate depends on the capability of the connected HDD / SSD)

Versatile Design.
Due to its unique design, this adapter is equipped with a 2.5" IDE connector, a 3.5" IDE connector, and a 2.5" /3.5" SATA connector on different sides. You can operate a IDE hard drive and a SATA hard drive together at one time.
Moreover, this adapter supports 5.25" optical drives with SATA or IDE interface: CD/DVD-ROM, CD/DVD-RW, Blu-Ray DVD, MO, ZIP, Combo devices.

Backup Function.
The included PC Clone EX Lite software allows you to create external storage, back up and restore your files (using the provided CD driver to set up software first).
Note: Backup function can only be used under Windows system through USB connection (press backup button twice to start backup); after backup finished, the files will be hidden, so you need to display them by yourself for other use.

This USB 3.0 to SATA and IDE adapter is everything it's made out to be. It was easy to connect and operate and was recognized by my computer immediately. It allowed me to use older drives (ones that don't fit in my new SATA connection computer) as external hard drives.

It has 2 IDE sockets on the plug-in end (one 2.5" and one 3.5"), and one 2.5"/3.5" SATA socket. You can plug in the power cord, plug in the IDE (or SATA) connector, hit the power switch to spin the suspect up to speed, and start the computer. Then, plug the USB cable into the computer and watch it get auto-detected. I've tested the device with 3.5" SATA and IDE hard drives and had no problems with the unit itself.

The supplied cable works well for me, however, I can see situations where the cable would be too short if your only access is to the back of the PC. A six feet cable would be a huge improvement.

I highly recommend it for data retrieval or for moving data to a new computer.

Worked great- but read my story

I got my IDE/SATA adapter today and tried it out. IT does not come with an instruction guide to connect the cables. I wanted to test my Western Digital WD400 Hard Drive first. I was puzzled because the Adapter kit comes with a 4 pin DC Voltage power plug. The Hard Dive as a 4 pin power connector and the Ubteck has one too. It turns out that the power connector on the Adapter is for powering up the SATA hard drive. Anyway I power it up and my computer took a long time (about a minutes or more for it to recognized the driver. Then 10 seconds later the drive letter appeared on my directory.
Then I could open the hard drive directory and copy my files. The amazing thing about this is that the drive would not open windows XP when it was connected to the computer. That is why I replaced it.

I try the adapter on a Sata Western Digital WD3200AAJAS from a Windows Vista PC also that would not boot . The directory appeared and I was able toretrieved that too. Same thing on a Maxtor Diamond Plus 8 (Windows Vista) and a Western Digital Caviar 22110 from a Windows 98 PC .

The Kit comes with a disk but I did not need it. There is instruction for the enclosed CD Disk but the letters are so small you need a magnifying Glass to read it. But you don't really need instruction- It works great.

I would recommend buying this thing.

Old laptop seems to be dying so I took out its enhanced IDE drive and used the converter to hook it up with a new computer. I have access to all my old stuff!!

I wanted to add an Asus Blu-Ray player to my iMac, but I didn't want to buy a full external enclosure for it. The UCtech adapter connected on to the back of the internal drive and the USB 3.0 cable plugged into the USB 3.0 port on the iMac. Works like a charm! No problems at all. It's a great little gadget!

(Note: To anyone thinking of watching movies on Blu-Ray on the iMac, you do need a Blu-Ray player, such as the Macgo Mac Blu-ray player.)

This did a great job of pulling data off of drives on my now dead computer. I don't think the USB was transferring as fast is it was supposed to. I was using the 3.0 ports but only getting like 60 MB/s? Other than that a good product.
