5.0 out of 5 stars A very heavy and excellent mix
This disc has some very good, adrenaline pumping tunes on it. I have a good portion of these songs already with the artist's regular cds. To anyone who reads this review know if the group Stemm has a disc out? The song "Face The Pain" which is the intro song of the UFC vids is a great rockin' tune. The group Scars Of Life is another one i'd like to pick up too. To...

2.0 out of 5 stars Does not capture the essence of the UFC
I bought this CD in hopes of getting a list of "pump-up", high-energy metal songs. I was hoping to get songs that portrayed what the UFC is all about. Hatebreed's "Live for This" was an excellent example. (Every drop of blood, every bitter tear, every bead of sweat, I live for this!). Stemm's "Face the Pain" was also a great song to represent the UFC. These two songs...

To me, just those 2 songs are worth the price of this hard rockin' disc. Of course you can't forget all the other great artists on here. Definately a great cd to lift weights to. Pick it up and blast it through the speakers.

2.0 out of 5 stars Does not capture the essence of the UFC, April 13, 2005
This review is from: UFC Presents Ultimate Beatdowns V. 1 (Audio CD)
These two songs really gets your blood pumping, almost making you want to get in the Octagon to take on someone.

However, these were the only two songs that I truly enjoyed on the CD. I found that the rest of the songs didn't really seem to fit the mood of a UFC CD, and/or were just really mediocre.

For example, what was Killswitch Engage doing on the CD? Even though I am a fan of KsE, a hardcore/screamo band just doesn't belong on "Ultimate Beatdowns".

Another song that just didn't seem to fit was Damageplan's "Blunt Force Trauma". It seemed way to slow and quiet to capture that UFC mentality.

The rest of the song's on the CD couldn't keep my attention. I felt it was low-end metal. Lyrics that ramble on and on and music that fails to catch your ear. Slayer's "Warzone" was a big disappointment. Sounded like a bunch of noise in the background while someone yelled "WARZONE!" over and over again.

I wouldn't recommend buying this CD. Even if the songs are good metal, they're not UFC metal, if you know what I mean.

As a HUGE fan of the UFC I couldn't resist getting the Ultimate Beatdowns CD. Great stuff! If you like heavy, driving metal rock, this is for you. I would get rid of the stupid Roman song in the beginning, as it is the most dissonant piece of music I have heard. I know it is the UFC intro, but MAN, someone should have checked the harmony lines before doing that piece. Ack. Otherwise, great. Perfect for workouts or days to get "psyched up" with....WOO HOO!

4.0 out of 5 stars Who's Listening To This??, June 13, 2011
This review is from: UFC Presents Ultimate Beatdowns V. 1 (Audio CD)
I read the reviews here; and I can't believe my eyes... most people are saying there are only 2 good songs (by Hatebreed & Stemm) and "the rest are mediocre". WHO ARE YOU PEOPLE?... you're certainly NOT metal-fans, if you're saying "Slave Labour" by Fear Factory, is "mediocre", or "doesn't get your blood pumping", &/or "not the essence of UFC". ___ These reviewers sound (to me) like a group of people who mostly like the hip-hop'ish-metal styles/genres, like the "Bring the Pain" theme... like "Methods of Mayhem"... (early) Kid Rock... and Limp Bizkit.... and wouldn't know GOOD METAL if it came up & knocked 'em on their back-side.

Whatever, to each his own... there are good tracks on this, IN PARTICULAR, SLAVE LABOUR by FEAR FACTORY... but for the most part, the CD has a majority of unknown's &/or underground metal bands, who yes, are very mediocre. I just had to stand up & represent for Fear Factory... 'cause even though they represent THE BEST SONG ON THIS ALBUM... these "metal fans" were giving them no love.

PS: to be fair, "Bring the Pain"... the version we all "know and love"... is a Beefed-Up / Speedier / More-Agressive, REMIX of the ORIGINAL which Stemm wrote/recorded back around 2001 or so.... so they (Stemm) should NOT get MOST of the credit for the Main Theme, since THEIR Original Version, was MUCH, MUCH Slower, and not nearly as "aggressive" as the version we're all familiar with... ALL the credit SHOULD go to the Remixer, who took a MEDIOCRE song, and MADE IT GOOD. The original "Stemm" version, SUCKS total donkey-b@ll$... plain & simple... and is sure to make your blood CURDLE, not boil or pump. ;-) LOL

5.0 out of 5 stars STEMM!!!, March 16, 2006
This review is from: UFC Presents Ultimate Beatdowns V. 1 (Audio CD)
I haven't heard all the cd, but i'm up here mostly for STEMM! I'm from where they are from (well, around abouts where they are from)... anywho, if you're into them, check their site out at http://www.stemm.net

also you can hear more songs from them on http://www.purevolume.com just search Buffalo, NY or search STEMM. They have a really kick ass song up there called "13 Years" which features Chimaira's singer in the song. That song is very good. Also check out the song called "Monster" by them. You can view the video of "Monster" on their website as well.

And to the reviewer called NEMESIS, i tried to contact you, but couldn't find your contact info. Yes, they do have a cd out, and is $10 on their website, go to http://www.stemm.net

Also, the game MX World Tour w/ Jamie Little features about 4-5 songs by STEMM on there as well. "Face the Pain", "Inside" (instrumental version only on the game), "Till I Die" (very good song **), and "Holding On" (both instrumental/album version). The game sux to me, but i'm keeping it just cuase of Stemm's songs on there, until i buy their cd that is.
