4.0 out of 5 stars An Inside View
Throwdown is simply a wonderful inside view on what being a Mixed Martial Artist takes and how difficult it is to fight these guys. If you lay off the offense for a moment, your character taps out. if you want to force a KO on your opponent you have to work at it strenuously. Violence is not the major factor here. 3.0 out of 5 stars UFC THROWDOWN for GAMECUBE
this game is pretty good for gamecube i like how you can go from guard to mount to getting a fighters back you can even fight off submission sorta but not always and really kill with punches especially when you tackle and "ground & pound" there are all kinds of tricks like catching and countering for a takedown. Career mode is kinda weak you just spar your way up the stat...

MMA combat is no more violent than boxing or hockey and nobody is trying to ban those sports. Throwdown accurately portrays MMA as a cross between wrestling and boxing. It has the strikes and strategy of Boxing's hard punches and wrestling's trategic grappling and joint locking. Each character has a specialty and a weakness, just like the real thing. However, because the GameCube can't learn from the user, the weaknesses are never fixed and the strengths never weaken. All in all, the price makes this a very desirable game. It may not take a great deal of time to become the champion or win the tournament but it will give you a great sense of what it is to be a fighter.

4.0 out of 5 stars R U UFC?, September 11, 2002

This game is a good fighter for those who arent big fighter fans. If u luv games like tekken and street fighter, then this game will be so easy it makes u sick. However, if u hate those games or want to get started, this game will be perefect. Or, if yur like me, love the ... out of UFC this game is awesome. By the way, I played it on all 3 major platforms and the Ps2 and XBox versions arent that good. The Gamecube version is the version were this game reigns! So if u are a beginner of fighting games or like the UFC. Pick this one up.

3.0 out of 5 stars "OK" for when it came out. Garbage by todays standards., February 14, 2011

I bought this a many years ago when it first came out. It was not that great, but it was basically the best you could get at the time. By todays standards, watching a "load" screen would probably be more entertaining....

2.0 out of 5 stars not cool, April 9, 2007
= Fun:2.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: UFC: Throwdown (Video Game)
This game is kinda unrealistic...because for example in this game once an oponent gets u in a submission you tap out automatically and in the real ufc that does not happen like that...also the submissions come out of no where its unrealistic...like for example I was boxing one of the fighters and they did some kind of jump thing and locked an armbar on me while we were standing there boxing, thats terribley unrealistic...also when your on the ground for the cpu to flip u over is way too easy and sometimes its terriblely hard to get them off of you...it is an ok game but it is just so unrealistic when it comes to the fighting.
