This album is almost too good to be true! UFO Romantics is aGuitar Wolf album with production that's just clear enough to let you hear all the instruments, at least on the first half of album.(From the title track onward it's back to the signature lo-fi sound) The songs are all amazingly good, especially After School Thunder,UFO Romantics, Lightning's Melody, Jett Beer, Fireball Red, and Nagasaki Jet.

Rock'n'Roll = Guitar Wolf,

Guitar Wolf return after the amazing "Jet Generation" with "UFO Romantics" to pummel your brains and make your ears bleed. First thing anyone will notice who are familiar with Guitar Wolf's previous releases is a new found cleaner sound. And by cleaner production for Guitar Wolf = dirtier and rawer than 99% of any other bands X10. While some purists might cringe at the thought of Guitar Wolf and cleaner production, think again. While earlier Guitar Wolf albums such as "Missle Me" or "Planet of the Wolves" pack more a skull rattling rumble, "UFO Romantics" packs more of a sonic bang!Verses and choruses are now distinguishable, even changes between songs for that matter. Actually, if you go through all of Guitar Wolf's releases, each consecuative one has slightly better production than the previous. This album is just a continuation of where "Jet Generation" left off. Still the same old Guitar Wolf we all know and love. Song titles still have "Ace" and "Jett" in them, solos still sound more like spasms due to electrical shock than thought out scales, and they are still the craziest sounding band on the planet. An amazing album by the kings of jet rock'n'roll!

Guitar Wolf - 'UFO Romantics' (Narnack Records),

Looks to be Guitar Wolf's ninth CD (?) including two vinyl lp's - did NOT realize this Japanese punk three piece had so many releases out. Tunes here I liked best are "After School Thunder", the rocking "Gion Midnite", title track "UFO Romantics", "Jet Beer" and "Alcohol Ace". Know I saw these guys open for The Cramps awhile back on their 'Big Beat From Badsville' tour. Line-up: Billy (R.I.P.) - guitar, Ug - bass and Toru - drums. Should pull in long time fans of the Stooges, Link Wray, The Droogs, The Monks and the Ramones. Despite, Billy's passing, I believe that Guitar Wolf is still carrying on - with bassist Ug as the frontman. The show must go on.
