Endorsements:

In a field that can be so confusing, so complex, Richard Dolan has taken his many years of thinking about UFOs and written a completely fresh overview of the entire subject. . . . This is an ambitious work that truly ties the many different aspects of the subject together. It's rare to find something like this, especially considering the care and thoroughness that went into it.
-- From the Foreword by George Noory, host of Coast to Coast AM.

'As a follow-up to his previous books exploring the relationship between UFOs and the National Security State, historian Richard Dolan widens his perspective to explore all aspects of this provocative phenomenon. In this role, he takes us on a journey that brings to life the subtlety and depth of this rich subject, a truly captivating read.'
--H. E. Puthoff, Ph.D., Director, Institute for Advanced Studies at Austin

UFOs For the 21st Century Mind represents a new kind of book – one that clearly and intelligently addresses literally every aspect and implication of the most maligned, misunderstood and compelling subject in human history. Richard Dolan’s newest work is perfect reading for serious students of ufology as well as the absolute beginner. Inspired, particularly well written, and the product of a first class mind for this or any other century.
--Peter Robbins, coauthor of the British bestseller, Left At East Gate: A First-Hand Account of the Rendlesham Forest UFO Incident, Its Cover-up and Investigation

This is an invaluable treatment of the known facets and seemingly endless implications regarding UFOs, with a much-appreciated focus on the human experience. A job well done, Richard.
-- Sam Maranto, Investigative Researcher

Editorial Reviews

About the Author

Richard Dolan has researched UFOs and related phenomena since the early 1990s. He is the author of the historical series, UFOs and the National Security State (volumes one and two), as well as an analysis of the future, A.D. After Disclosure: When the Government Finally Reveals the Truth About Alien Contact. He has appeared widely on radio and television, including Coast-to-Coast AM, CNN, The History Channel, SyFy, BBC, and elsewhere. Since 2012, Richard has hosted “The Richard Dolan Show,” airing on KGRA Radio. In his writings and interviews, Richard has analyzed the destruction of our political liberties as a result of the UFO cover-up, the possible nature of the non-humans themselves, what their presence means for our civilization, why he believes the cover-up will end within our lifetime, and what is likely to happen after that. With the completion of UFOs for the 21st Century Mind, Richard plans to complete the third volume of UFOs and the National Security State, which will take the history of the UFO reality and cover-up to the present day. In earlier years, Richard had been a Rhodes Scholar finalist, earned a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in History, and received a Certificate in Political Theory at Oxford University. Born in Brooklyn, raised on Long Island, he continues to live in Rochester, New York, where he spent many years raising his family. Visit his website at richarddolanpress.com.

5.0 out of 5 stars Shines Light on the Greatest Mystery of Our Time January 25, 2014
Format:Paperback
While there is so very much we do not know about UFOs, there is also a lot that we do know. What's great about this book is that it pulls the facts, timelines, suspicions and conjectures together into a brisk, readable narrative. Even for the well-informed, it's a terrific brush-up on the topic. For the person who knows very little but wants to know more, it could very well be the starting point to a lifetime obsession to understand what's going on. I would (and will) give this book to my skeptical friends as their introductory course.

Richard Dolan tightly weaves the tapestry here with his trademark style. If you haven't been exposed to his writing before, I mean that he lays out the facts that we know clearly, asks the logical questions that these facts raise and considers the answers carefully. In most cases of UFOlogy there are only more questions but, even then, this book deftly addresses that reality. Everything is here: from abductions to sightings to Roswell and other crashes to crop circles to cattle mutilations and so much more.

I recommend this book to readers without hesitation. After you take in its contents, you are likely to want to drill deeper to know more details. There are some terrific books on the subject that are out now (Dolan has written several himself) and you will be prepared to dive into them. This is a great read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding and Thorough Intro to UFOs! February 16, 2014
Format:Paperback
I would recommend this book to anyone who has the slightest interest in the subject of UFOs. This is where to start.

This book covers every aspect of the phenomenon. Even though I had been interested in flying saucers my whole life, it was Richard's first book "UFOs and the National Security State Vol 1" that really provided me with an good education about the subject. Since then, I have gobbled up anything and everything he has written. And, I also make it a point to attend his lectures if I can. He is also a fabulous lecturer( aways draws a large crowd) But, the reason I truly respect Richard Dolan is because of his sober and serious attitude towards the subject. If he doesn't know something, he says "I don't know". If he feels he's speculating about something, he's says "I'm speculating". So when Richard says he knows something to be true, you can bet your bottom dollar that it is true. Richard makes many other authors and lecturers on this and related topics look like quacks and it is these quacks that eat at the respectability of the subject.

Bottom Line: Richard Dolan is genuine and should be anyone's go-to guy for this subject matter.

But why I hold RIchard Dolan in such high esteem, is because he does't speculate beyond what the evidence shows. So many writers in the UFO field completely discredit themselves by peddling outrageous claims which have no basis in fact. And, these quacks make a mockery of the subject and render it illegitimate for the public.

Richard keeps it legit!!!

3.0 out of 5 stars Not What I Was Hoping For But Good March 1, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I'm a fan of Richard Dolan's prior works on the subject of UFOs and consider him to be one of the foremost researchers in the field. This book, however, just didn't do it for me. It's well written, and Dolan is engaging and entertaining as always. The problem, for me, is that most of the material discussed is well known by anyone who's read more than a few UFO books. I'm afraid I don't see the need for another write up of classic cases.

I also disagreed with Mr Dolan's conclusions about some of those classic cases, in particular the Gulf Breeze sightings and the Hill abduction, neither of which have much validity in my opinion. Further I didn't care for the way he dismissed the multiverse theory as little more than science fiction; I think we know too little yet to dismiss such philosophical musings out of hand.

My other gripe is there were numerous typos. Nothing too bad, and it doesn't detract from the read, but annoying nonetheless. Maybe this is just a problem in the Kindle edition, but the book needs a good proof reading.

On the plus side I found the later chapters very entertaining, especially the material about physics. Again, Mr Dolan is a good writer who knows how to draw you in and hold your interest. Here he outlines some stimulating stuff.

If you're new to the subject or looking for a sound overview, I would recommend this book. If you've been reading about UFOs for thirty years as I have, you might not like it as well. But, as I did, you'll probably want it anyway.

5.0 out of 5 stars An instant classic! February 11, 2014

Format:Paperback
UFOs for the 21st Century Mind: A Fresh Guide to an Ancient Mystery will educate the novice and provide those already interested in the study of UFOs with an invaluable, accessible, resource tool. This is possibly the most comprehensive examination of the UFO enigma yet written. Dolan "opens up vistas of thought in our politics, science, culture, technology… [that] force us to reconsider many of the truisms that underlie our worldview." I cannot recommend it enough!
