Preston Dennett's Masterpiece,
By
This review is from: UFOs Over California: A True History of Extraterrestrial Encounters in the Golden State (Schiffer Books) (Paperback)
UFO's Over California is Preston Dennett's most comprehensive work in the field of UFOlogy to date. While his previous books on this subject focused on one aspect of the subject matter, his latest covers all grounds. From UFO sighting to abductions, extraterrestrial healings to the contactee movement, UFO landings to crashes, celebrity craft sightings to alien implants; everything you need to know about UFOlogy is covered here.
Again, Preston presents the material in a non-biased format; he neither preaches nor debunks; you are given the facts of the situations at hand and left to conjure your own conclusions. Two of the highlights here are the California Airship Mystery and the Battle of Los Angeles, a tremendous UFO encounter during World War II in which the military actually fired upon the craft and in which photographs were published in newspapers at the time. The fact that this monumental event remains obscure boggles the mind, but thankfully Preston presents it in this magnificent volume in full detail. Along with One in Forty: The UFO Epidemic, Extraterrestial Visitations, UFO Healings, California ghosts, Out Of Body Exploring, and UFO's Over Topanga Canyon, UFO's Over California solidifies Preston Dennett's position as one of the most prominent researchers in the field of both UFOlogy and the paranormal.

Great Artwork and Lots of Information,
By
This review is from: UFOs Over California: A True History of Extraterrestrial Encounters in the Golden State (Schiffer Books) (Paperback)
Preston Dennett has done it again. This book contains a great deal of information on the full range of UFO experiences reported in California, including the Topanga Canyon wave, USOs (unidentified submersible objects), the Contactee Movement, abductions, landings and possible crash retrievals, Dr. Roger Leir's implant surgeries and more. The highlight of the book, however, is the art, and this book has quite a lot of it.
Kesara is a talented illustrator and this book contains many of her best illustrations of UFO sightings and alien encounters. To be fair, her artwork is somewhat stylized, which may be why some reviewers did not consider it accurate. However, the images do accurately evoke the feelings associated with the encounter experience, and by comparing her drawings of aliens with her drawings of humans (given that we all know what humans look like), one can "reverse-engineer" them to get a sense of what the aliens might look like without the imprint of Kesara's unique style. The UFO experience is primarily visual (objects and strange beings are *seen* and described by witnesses) so the use of art to convey the experience is important. The book also contains several photographs of craft-like UFOs allegedly seen over California, including reprints of the famous Rex Heflin photos. All told, the book is an important contribution to the UFO literature and although it doesn't really tell us much that is fundamentally new, it does flesh out a lot of information that any serious researcher of the UFO experience might have encountered elsewhere.

Poorly organized information,

This book is almost identical to UFO's over Topanga Canyon by the same author.
I found the book to be unorganized and the information to be poorly supported. It just mentions an event with nothing to back it, no scientific proof, no investigation.. something like .. "Wilma from Long Beach saw a UFO over the ocean." So what? Big deal!! Very disapointing. I would NOT buy this again.

And the Mystery Continues,

This review is from: UFOs Over California: A True History of Extraterrestrial Encounters in the Golden State (Schiffer Books) (Paperback)
UFOs Over California by Preston Dennett is somewhat of an encyclopedic compilation of UFO History in general, and events throughout the State of California in conjunction with that history.
As stated even by the author himself; most of the sightings and events are placed into a somewhat haphazardly date line. However, due to the extensive history and updated interviews many of the sightings jump back and forth through certain windows of time. Strict chronology is really unimportant in this publication because it is presented as an informational warehouse to impress upon the reader the sheer extent of UFO cases reported in California alone. I found the book an enjoyable and informative read, and would recommend it to anyone who has an interest in the on-going history of this enigma which still continues even as I write.

For those who deny the reality of this phenomenon, please don't bother those of us that accept it. Just go on to some other subject. This is not a book for you. Those of us, in the millions, who are aware of the reality of UFOs and do not wish to argue the point anymore will find this book interesting. I for one do not care to debate the reality issue anymore.
As far as I know, Preston Dennett has set a precedent here by writing a documentary account of sightings and personal experiences with the UFO presence expressly in California. He has sited Blue Book cases, books, magazines, and newspaper articles and given us an entertaining and sometimes spine-tingling accounting of that extensive research. I read through this book relatively fast as I found it absorbing and enlightening. The documentation is thorough, Dennett is not making these stories up! If you are a California resident and have interest in the subject matter, I recommend this book wholeheartedly. It was interesting to read the history of my particular area of California, and thought provoking to get a concept of how the phenomenon has progressed and become more overt over time. The book exposes a wide range of interesting cases from the very southern tip of California to the Oregon coast. I found this book well worth the price. Thank you Mr. Dennett!

UFOs Over California,
This review is from: UFOs Over California: A True History of Extraterrestrial Encounters in the Golden State (Schiffer Books) (Paperback)
This book was logically organized, and presented with a vocabulary that gripped your attention from the getgo. If even 1/20th of what the author says is true (and the evidence says it is), we are on the verge of being merged with societies of extraterrestials that we know nothing about, even if the military knows something about the equipment that they use. It is past time for the military to come clean and get our sociologists and psychologists to studying these societies. Otherwise, the human race has a disaster in the making.

Mr. Dennett has compiled what is possibly the most exhaustive list of California sightings to date. Not that I can agree with the sources of origin, after years of reading volumes of literature, and a past involvement with occultic practices. My conclusion is they're all from the same source. Read my other reviews on the paranormal to see what that source is. But for the sheer history of occurrences in the state, in a league of its own.

Dennis S. Smith is obviously a strongly opinionated individual. He appears to have images of movies and mainstream media burned in his brain. Dennis does not see and appreciate this 'true art' and it's dedication to illustration accurate accounts of abductions and/or UFO siting experiences. In addition, Dennis seems to have no idea as to the time it takes to revise these renderings to accuracy. If he was able look deeper into the images, he would have appreciated the feelings that is evoked out of the artwork. I absolutely do not agree with his opinion about the illustrations. They are sensatively done and offer the book meaningful and accurate examples of the stories behind them. They are truly haunting without any commerical influence what so ever. It is a breath of fresh air to see something so uniquely done. Kesara is an experienced artist. The History Channel do not agree with Dennis either. Her illustrations are regularly seen on UFO programming on this station.

Art work in UFOs Over Califoriia,
By
This review is from: UFOs Over California: A True History of Extraterrestrial Encounters in the Golden State (Schiffer Books) (Paperback)
In the twenty years that I have worked as an artist I have never received such a humble oppinion of my work. I have worked with investigators, abductees, and experiencers and not one of them had a negative oppinion of the work I did for them. Yet I respect the veiws of our readers. Thank you for your expert and humble oppinion. I have over two hundred illustrations based on actual events. The history of these illustrations are extrodinary and each one very unique in that they translate themselves through the discription of the experience. I have watched the person who has been through the experience cry, turn white and nearly pass out when I drew a sketch of their discribed experience, simular to a police sketch artist. In some ways the picture seems to provide theraputic outlet for the person. I have seen many people relate to the illustrations drawn telling me about their personal stories. The artwork act as a trigger for other experiencers hiding their event afraid to share with others, afraid of ridicule. I just wanted others to know that read these reveiws that these pictures have a history and deep meaning for those I have drawn for. Thank you Kesara
