For some reason the state of Pennsylvania has been the focus of strange events and encounters, dozens of books have been written about this, this book is one of them. The reason for the high-strange status of PA? only the Gods know. This book gives a good run down of events mostly UFO and creature related that have been documented by excellent reseachers throughout the years. There is more than meets the eye here, Bigfoot, UFOs, flying humanoids, etc are they all connected? Perhaps the connection is stronger than we ever thought.

I found a copy of this used and picked it up. Being a resident of PA it would be great to have a library of local sightings. So far the body of research is limited. This book and the one by MUFON Director John Ventre: UFOs over Pennsylvania are all there is.

Wilson picked some well known stories and re-told them, such as the Erie event, Gettysburg, Harrisburg, etc. The book has a great look and reads fast. That's also where the book falls a little short. This really reads as a tourist book, not a lot of depth instead focusing on what you probably have heard of. I could totally see it sitting in a mom and pop gift shop meant to catch the eye of the bored passer through. Maybe that was the aim, which i dont fault the author for. As a printed format, the $10 price is justifiable, in a kindle or download format its ridiculous. Even its listed page count is generous, considering references, introductions, etc. This is a short read which at most should be offered at $5.

Ventre's book has more raw information, though as my review and another states, its quite haphazard and poorly executed. Wilson does a great job of organization and making a cohesive and readable book. She actually does reference Ventre in some of her Bibliographies, and cites her other books as a source (poor choice IMHO). I cant help but think what a great book the two could have combined to create; Ventre's sources and files, Wilson's writing ability and organization. That would be the PA reference manual I crave. Maybe they are reading, maybe i could help?

In short I think both of the books are only for the diehard Ufologist or locals, but if i were to pick one to get started on local research i would choose Wilson's. Brief as it is, it stands out in a limited field. A second edition, expanded, would be great.

I do enjoy reading her books but this one doesnt have enough detail in the stories. Its as if there really wasnt enough information available but she chose to write about the events anyways.I was hoping to read more on each story.

This was a fascinating look at some of the more unusual cases of UFO sightings in PA. Having lived in PA for my first 50+ years, AND having witnessed UFOs there on three separate occasions, I was interested to see how similar the compiled sightings were to my own. There were in fact some unique similarities between my own and certain described cases.

The book is an easy read and seems to be faithful to the original news reporting on the events. Some events seemed a bit silly, and that is why I gave only 4 stars, as I know there are other more interesting events that were not included. Still, if you have an interest in UFOs, and especially if you have lived - or know someone who does live - in PA, you will find it entertaining, if not enlightening.
