5.0 out of 5 stars Good value - sizing runs large

3.0 out of 5 stars Bigger size not always bigger sized.
The bigger sizes of this jacket are not true to size.
I ordered one full size bigger than I needed and found it very tight.
Item had to be sent back and exchanged for one 2 full sizes listed than I needed.

About the jacket.

Chinese in manufacture.
It seems to be well built and is fairly warm for what it is.

Received this after much deliberation on what to purchase. Decided on this brand based on price vs features. It's well put together, with good attention to detail.

The Velcro at the wrist does not allow the sleeve to be cinched tightly to keep out wind. It's a minor thing to move it or add another piece of Velcro. The brass zipper is much more smooth than plastic zippers on other coats I have. The included button-in liner makes it great for colder weather, and the fabric itself is heavy enough to keep you comfortable without the liner for chilly spring mornings. Without extra layers, I wouldn't recommend this for frigid weather at all. If I had to make one complaint, it would be that the one upper bellows pocket isn't as large as preferred. Not a deal breaker, but it would be nice to have the ability to put more in.

Regarding the sizing, it does run large. I normally purchase size large in coats. Based on other reviews I almost purchased this in a small, but at the last minute I decided to try a medium and hope for the best. I'm glad I did - a small would have been snug with the liner, and would have been uncomfortable with an added layer. The medium fits me exactly as a Columbia parka sized large. The sleeves are long enough to cover part of my hands when standing normally, and part of the cuff folds out to cover even more if needed. This would make it great when it's cold enough for gloves.

Overall, if you're looking for this style of jacket without spending the money for an authentic military surplus, I highly recommend this one.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sizes are deceiving, October 1, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
The quality of this jacket is actually quite high considering the price. However the sizes run WAY too large and I strongly recommend you purchase TWO full sizes below what is listed. For instance I am usually a Medium and I purchased a Xsmall and it is still a large fit.

For those of you attempting a urban military or milspec./hipster look this is a very clean cut and "fresh" jacket. It is not distressed in anyway shape or form. This is a positive in my book so as each individual can utilize the jacket as a personal canvas.

Over all this jacket is great except for the horrible sizing issue. If not for the sizing problems I would rate this item 5 stars.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice Product - Way Too Large, January 5, 2012

Very well made jacket... great price and it includes the liner, which others offered in this medium don't include. The zipper is heavy duty, and the material is very tough. Make sure you get at least 1 size smaller than usual. I'm a XL so I ordered a Large and it was still too large. I had to get this jacket in a medium to get the right fit. No regrets, excellent jacket for winter and if you remove the liner you can use it any time of year. The sizing issue made me give it only 4 stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars NICE Jacket, November 7, 2011

The m65 field jacket made by Rothco is definitely warm enough for Chicago winters which are quite cold. When I ordered I wasn't sure if it was going to be fairly a warm jacket or more so, and it is more so, quite def a "winter" jacket. I have bought Rothco bomber jackets from Amazon before and the zippers are very similar to the one on this.Kind of heavy duty as it says in the description though semi smooth like they won't fall apart and are loud. I ordered the x large because I usually wear 2x and maybe sometimes rather would wear 3x and the 1x is a good fit. I'm over six feet tall and still overweight but I did listen to the other reviews. One weird thing is that mostly it fits fine but that for some reason the zipper comes down to only the top of my belt. It's a longer length jacket which with the zipper only doesn't cover that much. There aren't as many buttons for the liner to connect with as there are button holes but maybe it's like that for a good reason? I am happy with my purchase and would suggest this purchase for somebody who needs a nice looking and solid winter coat.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good product but on large size, October 23, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I received the product in a timely manner. I normally wear an XL and this came about a size to big. But it is made to go over various gear and other clothes to keep you warm. When I was in the military they were also a bit large for there size. For the same reason. Kit you are buying this as your only piece of outer wear go a size smaller other wise go your normal size knowing it is designed to go over gear and other items.
Alone it is very warm but is even warmer for those really mornings and is a great outer layer for those wrap and peel days.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Jacket, January 15, 2012

It was a bit more than I was originally wanting to spend, but worth every penny. The button-in liner comes in handy and only takes a minute or two to install or remove. No complaints about the quality or finish, and have gotten a number of compliments on how it looks.
Now I have to get one in black.
Oh, the sizing is larger than you'll expect. A large was plenty big and still gives me room for layers, when I usually need an XL.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great deal, runs large, January 14, 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
For future buyers, I'm 6' 170lbs and the extra small is the best fit. This jacket runs extremely large. The medium was comically big, and the small was still baggy.

5.0 out of 5 stars great product but Beware of size, January 12, 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I purchased this jacket looking to use it not only to keep warm but also compliment my "Punk" style. I read the reviews so i knew to order it at least one size smaller. Alot of the reviews suggested to order 2 sizes smaller than you usually wear... i figured im a big guy so i ordered an XL instead of my usual XXL... i should have listened. the shipping was fairly quick (about a week) when i revieved it, it was folded very nicely and was brand new. i tried it on and to my dismay it was a bit too large. especially in the width of the shoulders. it would have been great except that the jacket was just overall too wide. (because its made to go over a full military uniform). returning is a bit of a pain. but its not the sellers fault. overall very pleased with this jacket it is very well made. i look forward to revieving one that will fit me.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hubby Approves, December 28, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I bought this for my husband, as one of his christmas gifts and he really is very pleased with it. Very warm! The inside lining comes out as well, so you can have a nice thick coat or a nice thin jacket. Love it. Great color!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great fit when you order one size down, November 8, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Heeding the warnings about the Rothco jackets, I ordered the medium and it fit great. I wear a large normally, with the occasional XL, so I was pleased that the jacket fit me perfect. Deeper green then the product image but I knew that going in having seen this jacket in real life. This included the liner which is normally sold separately so that was awesome too.
