From the Manufacturer

Ultrasone's new iCans were developed especially to help you recover all the rich sound you've been missing from your portable headphones. Designed for use with iPods and other portable audio players, the iCans create a big sound from small devices. Featuring our patented S-Logic natural surround sound technology and ULE standard magnetic shielding, these are among the best sounding, safest portable headphones in the world.

For the Audiophile on the Go

Lets face it: the headphones that come with your portable music player don’t do your music justice. But plug in a pair of iCans by Ultrasone and you’ll recover all that great sound you’ve been missing. iCans by Ultrasone feature all the same great technology of our studio headphones in a foldable, portable package for people who demand quality sound on the go. Designed especially for use with portable music players, these headphones feature 30mm Mylar drivers, ULE (Ultra Low Emission) standard MU metal shielding and a unique adjustable design for compact storage.

Derived from our award winning line of professional studio headphones, Ultrasone iCans 30mm Mylar driver is designed to have great bass response, high maximum SPL, and to be next to impossible to blow out. This driver along with our patented S-Logic technology allows you to hear your music better at lower volumes even in noisy environments. Between the driver and your head Ultrasone places a Mu Metal bufferboard designed to shield the listener from low frequency electro-magnetic emissions produced when the headphone converts an electric signal to an acoustic one. In accordance with our ULE (Ultra Low Emission) standard this material shields you up to 98% from electro-magnetic radiation that is typically produced by all headphones.

Foldable for Maximum Portability

Ultrasone iCans also feature a unique folding mechanism that allows for compact storage in the iCans tin provided with each pair. By collapsing and then twisting the earcups, the headphones fold flat making them easy to slip into a backpack, handbag or even your back pocket.

Step 1. Grasp earcups and push gently until stem collapses into earcups. Do this first as earcups will not turn while extended.

Step 2. Turn earcup so that it lays flat. Repeat step 2 with other earcup.

Step 3. Align earcups so that the cable rests on top of the headphones.

Step 4. Collapse to portable size and store.

S-Logic Natural Surround Sound

Ultrasone’s patented S-Logic Natural Surround Sound System is a revolutionary advance in how we listen to headphones. S-logic creates a natural three-dimensional sound field that gives the listener more depth to their music. S-Logic gives the listener a more lifelike listening experience and protects their hearing at the same time. How does S-Logic work? Ultrasone headphones with patented S-Logic are the first headphones to utilize your entire ear, including the pinnea (outer ear), in the listening experience. Through the use of decentralized driver positioning, S-Logic headphones aim the sound at the pinnea instead of directly down the ear canal. The sound does not go directly down you ear canal as with conventional headphones, but instead filters off the outer ear as you listen. By doing this, your perception of distance, depth and instrument placement are greatly enhanced. You can hear the mix exactly as the engineer heard it in the studio.

An added benefit of S-Logic technology is an up to 40% (3-4dB) drop in SPL (sound pressure levels) for the same perceived volume. This means the Ultrasones put less pressure on your eardrum than any other headphones. Because of this, the risk of hearing damage is greatly reduced and you can listen for longer without fatigue.

5.0 out of 5 stars A unique quality that Ultrasone has finally brought to a traveling size, March 4, 2006

If you have not experienced the Ultrasone sound quality, it will be hard to fully appreciate these phones. They provide an open relaxed yet dynamic sound. I have the HFI700's which are beyond any others. For traveling I have used Sennheiser PX200 and Shure E3c. The iCans are by far more comfortable than either barely feeling them on your head. Being semi-open they do not isolate those around you as well as these though. One can listen to the iCans for a longer period without feeling tired.

The iCans carry the Surround Sound System S-Logic well from their big brothers. The bass is a little weaker, but the accuracy is excellent across the range of 20-20,000. I use the Cowon's A2 as my source which is one of the best. It is well worth the while to go outside the lemming behavior of iPOD's and Sony to experience where others have advanced technology beyond the masses.

5.0 out of 5 stars unbelievable sound and comfort with great style, March 28, 2007
Loved the Naos. They match my Nano perfect, have really thick foam pads that block alot of exterior noise and are very comfortable and secure. But the best part is the sound. I didn't know my MP3 could sound so good. Great bass response. And they are supposed to protect my ears. Worth every penny.

5.0 out of 5 stars A solid headphone., May 22, 2007
This review is from: ULTRASONE iCans, S-Logic Surround Sound Professional Headphones - (White) (Electronics)
I am a headphone aficionado, and I own about 30 pairs from the Sony V6 and V600 to the Sony EX-90, the Senheiser PXC300, RS140 and on and on; you get the idea. I view headphones as some view musical instruments, with each producing a unique timbre and varying quality of sound. With headphones, physical comfort is also a significant issue. The iCans excel in some facets, but their "surround" aspect flattens the sound. They are accurate and well made, but the power to drive them is higher than most MP3-oriented headphones. The Ultrasone S-Logic audio enhancement creates some sense of spaciousness, but somehow at a cost to the essence of the music.
