5.0 out of 5 stars TFP has more of a history than you think....
Starting in 1983 as Scared Straight, they were just 5 guys out of Simi Valley, California. Around 1993 or so, they changed their name to Ten Foot Pole, because they didn't want to be known as Straight Edge. (there is nothing wrong with sXe, you guys rock!) Featuring their first CD in 1994, Rev, these 5 guys pull out some great punk. But four of the guys weren't happy...

1.0 out of 5 stars A disappointment
When this record was released I was a big fan of this band/ REV is one of my all time favorite albums. This record featured a new vocalist and a new sound/direction for the band. I was very disappointed. I eagerly bought this right when it was released. This sounds just like NO USE FOR A NAME or NOFX and or any/all the other Wets Coast bands at the time. The production...

Since the lead singer, Scott, is the pitcher for the Los Angeles Dodgers, his baseball got in the way of his music career. The group had to let him go. Don't worry, you can still hear Scott as the lead singer to Pulley. But still keeping the punk rock edge, the four guys rock away with 13 excellent songs. Go and buy it! Right now!

5.0 out of 5 stars My God... It's too punk for my virgin ears!, November 11, 2000

Ten Foot Pole is one of the best bands out there. Move over Blink-182, cuz these guys will play music that'll make your eyes pop out of your head. This is the first CD with Dennis as lead vocals, and you can understand his voice for once in a punk band. Unleashed is one of the best TFP CDs out there, I would know, I have all five of their CDs. I'm just mad Amazon.com cuz they don't have Swill or the Split EP with Satanic Surfers, more people should buy them. So GO BUY THIS CD YA SHMUCK!

5.0 out of 5 stars possibly the fastest punk band ever, April 26, 1999

Juxtaposing amazingly fast drum beats with worked out melodies Ten foot pole have produced a masterpiece in its own coffee break. In my opinion "Its not me", "Pride and Shame" and "A.D.D." constitute some of the best punk around. Why gravel your path when you can do it with style? Buy it and give a decent band some money.

Now this is some GOOD Punk. Their singer doesnt have an annoying raspy voice like some punk bands and they have an awsome drummer. I heard of them fromm a.d.d. off of "Punk O Rama 3" also their song on 1 and 2. This is a must get!

1.0 out of 5 stars A disappointment, January 23, 2009
This review is from: Unleashed (Audio CD)
When this record was released I was a big fan of this band/ REV is one of my all time favorite albums. This record featured a new vocalist and a new sound/direction for the band. I was very disappointed. I eagerly bought this right when it was released. This sounds just like NO USE FOR A NAME or NOFX and or any/all the other Wets Coast bands at the time. The production values, guitar sound, and drumming are all just standard Fat Wreck type stuff. Don't get me wrong, many of those bands were good (esp their early efforts). Ten Foot Pole's REV album had a very unique sound. The guitars, the vocals... everything. It stood out form that 90's Wets Coast skater-core crowd in a big way for me... much like many of the albums at that time. This genre and sound fell into mediocre-land after bands like FACE TO FACE, STRUNG OUT tried to go in new directions with their sounds. Most of these bands had one or 2 great albums which are timeless and then decided to change their sound... and all did so for the worse. REV is a classic album. Everything about it is a winner. This album is lacking everything that album had, as do all other Ten Foot Pole albums that have proceeded it. If you haven't, please check out the TFP album REV and leave the rest alone.

5.0 out of 5 stars Quintessential Skate Punk, June 8, 2001
This review is from: Unleashed (Audio CD)
It is a real surprise that Ten Foot Pole aren't bigger than they are (of course a year and a half hiatus might be to blame for this). The combine catchy pop-punk melodies, thrashy guitars riffs, and a great punk voice to bring a sound that combines great elements of all punk genres. All the songs are great, and are more meaningful than most punk. The second track "John" is a great tune, and it's ending is a finale that will bring tears to the eyes of true fans of melodisism, "Daddy" is another great song that tackles serious subjects, and the end track "A.D.D" is probably one of the top ten punk songs this reviewer has ever heard (I know my music, and I've heard alot of punk in my days). Fans of Guttermouth, NOFX, and No Use should definitely have this in their collection.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the most awesome punk albums of the decade., October 27, 1999

This album totally rocks. It combines some of the best punk riffs along with real life lyrics and awesome harmonies. Ten Foot Pole mixes up the beat throughout the record by changeing musical formats; some songs are happy, some are sad. Overall, this album rules!
