I'm using this with the factory-installed inductive charging loop in my Nexus 7 FHD (2013). It works great. The only drawbacks I can think of involve the size. Since the charger is designed for phones, a 7" tablet hangs over the edge on all sides. This makes it a slight hassle to find the right position the first couple times you do it, and it's hard to see the status lights on the charger. Incredibly minor issues, though, and all stem from the fact that I'm using it to charge a device not listed as compatible, so it's hardly the charger's fault.

The included manual is comedy gold in a mean-spirited way, as English was not the first (or second, or third, or any
ordinal number'd) language of the author. It scarcely matters, as it's a "plug it in and it goes" affair. Just watch out if you're using a "heart birth maker".

As other reviewers have mentioned, inductive charging (in general, not just with this device) is slower than charging via USB. However, I always have a full charge when I pick the tablet up in the morning, even if the battery was mostly drained when I went to bed. Saving wear and tear on the micro-USB connector of your expensive device is a big plus.

If you're on the fence about getting an inductive charger, I'd encourage you to go for it. It takes something that used to be a few seconds and some minor annoyance every day, and replaces it with "Cool! I'm living in the future."

Also, should you happen to enjoy a few adult beverages (or have limited hand-eye coordination for some other reason), it's a whole lot easier to place your tablet on a flat surface than to suss out which side is up on that monkeyfighting micro-USB cable.

In summary, this device gets the job done and is a lot cheaper than most of the Qi-compatible alternatives.

This is a good Qi charger. In general Qi chargers are pretty rubbish and put people off using wireless charging. But I found that this one is a good one without many of the common faults.

Pros:
- Positioning is easy and works every time
- It has a non-slip ring to keep your device in place
- The lights are small and not overly bright
- The beep is not too loud
- It doesn't beep when it finishes charging
- It includes a battery for charging on the go
- It includes a USB socket for charging non-wirelessly on the go
- It as a button and lights to check battery charge level

Cons:
- There is no way to switch off the battery (to prevent it charging all the time and wearing out the battery)
- There is no way to switch off the lights for night-time use
- The case is a little larger than it needs to be (for carrying around)
- It isn't available in red :-)

Wishlist:
- I wish you could buy the identical unit with no battery in, Lugulake's battery-less model is not as good a design as this one
- I wish it included a switch to disconnect the battery or a mode so that it can be plugged into the power all the time

I use this with a Nexus 5. Note that it doesn't come with a power supply.

I'm a big fan of wireless... wireless speakers, wireless cycling odometers, wireless headphones... I hate cables. I've got too many of them and cable clutter drives me crazy. Consequently, I was extremely interested in reviewing this new platform charger for smartphones by Qi (pronounced "chi" as in chee, I think).

Basically this uses a technology called inductive charging. Some electric toothbrushes have used inductive charging for quite a few years and it's fantastic because you don't have to hook anything up to the device, you just place it in close proximity to the platform and charging begins immediately.

One thing to consider before purchase is that your smartphone has to be compatible with the charger and that means you may need to get an additional item to make the magic happen. In my case, with an iPhone4, I had to get the Qi case for my iPhone Energizer Qi Inductive Charging Sleeve for Iphone 4G, Ic-IP4G which replaces my normal case while it's being charged. The Qi case has a built-in 30-pin connector plug and circuitry to allow the iPhone to be charged using the Qi platform. It's magic.

You can either use the Qi case as your full-time iPhone case or you can just put your phone in it when it's time to be charged. I usually just put my phone in the Qi case when it needs to be charged and then leave the case next to the platform so the next family member can charge their phone if they wish. You can charge different smartphones on the same platform as long as you have the appropriate Qi case for the phone.

What is also cool is that the Qi platform doubles as a 6000mAh powerbank.

This charger, unlike its cousin, http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00CY4SG10/ref=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_2, works fairly well. It mostly charges reliably. I think that it does not communicate correctly with the cellphone about a full charge, because I notice that sometimes it's turning on and off and on and off, and when I look at the phone, it's completely charged. Other times (and this is my hesitation), it turns charging on and off repeatedly even though it's not a full charge.

Also, the cellphone gets quite warm while it's charging, as does the base. I'm not sure if that's because of the current flowing through the coil wires that causes the heat, or if it's because the battery is getting overcharged. I hope it's not the latter. I haven't noticed any battery life degradation yet.
