Product Description

Style Name: Secret Compartment US Quarter

During the Cold War, spies from both the East and West utilized specially modified coins to covertly transport messages, microfilms, poisons, etc. In our high-tech age, the clandestine "covert coin" may seem to be merely an historical or nostalgic relic. But although the technology of the covert coin is not new, the data media is new. T Your most private, confidential, and personal information can now be secured in a place where no one would ever locate it. Even a professional warrant search will not succeed in finding your most private information. Covert Coins are expertly precision hand-machined from actual coins to create a secret interior compartment. Once closed, they are absolutely indistinguishable from regular coins to the naked eye. They can be handled normally without any chance of an accidental opening. An opening device is supplied with each covert coin, without which it's next to impossible to open up the coin. Made in USA.

The coin itself is perfect.

While I realize it's the gadget-freak in me that's infatuated with this device, it is very much a viable stash for a micro SD card.

Can't get much in here, but maybe a note or something.

The quarter must be filed a bit or bent to fit the MicroSD card. I used a dremel tool to polish the inside and it did the job.
Even on closer visual examination it looks just like any other coin. But when held in hand one can say something is not right. It is very light. Also when dropped it makes a different sound.
But this can also be a good thing.
If you carry several coins in your wallet, you can easily say which one is the one. While if someone is searching through your wallet for a MicroSD card (the one with your passwords, financial data, etc) he/she surely won't even bother to test each coin.
The ring can be worn with your keys. It's made of some hard aluminum, it doesn't get bent or even scratched too easily.
Good product.

Style Name: Secret Compartment US Nickel Verified Purchase
I was a little skeptical that the nickel was going to be thick enough to actually hold the micro sd card but it does. You can't even tell it is a two pieces unless you know. The only thing I think would tip off this was not an altered nickel is the front is from a 1978 nickel and the back is from a newer one. But if you are looking for an sd card you aren't going to be examining the different sides of nickels.

Style Name: Secret Compartment US Nickel Verified Purchase
Not sure of the technology involved here...but it is very, very precise...holds a mini sd perfectly..must cut these suckers apart with a laser beam..A neat way to give your mate something cool...fold up a little love note...put it in...and give it to her with the opening tool that comes with your nickel...the quarters and halves are good for this too.Although the quarters wont hold the micro sd as they are too thin...It does weigh less than a real nickel as the innards are removed..an sd inserted does compensate somewhat..but not entirely..other than it's weight though..it is very deceptive..Seeya

This is a really cool product, it comes with a ring to open it so not just anyone can figure out how it opens. A microsd fits perfectly, but is slightly too large on the bump side. If you modify your card, it fits without a problem.
The quarter sounds hollow compared to a normal one, but looks identical. No one will be able to tell the difference; don't accidentally spend it!

I have the "Quarter". Maybe this will help mechanically: when you place the coin on the cylinder top, and rap sharply on a hard surface, the bottom of machined coin will fall off. When closing the coin with micro SD card inside, be certain you attempt a "good" fit. Close making certain both halves are even and when you press closed...it closes evenly.

I have legal documents, passwords, all matter of "sensitive data on a card safe inside. I keep the quarter will other loose change in a shallow dish on my desk. While I realize it's the gadget-freak in me that's infatuated with this device, it is very much a viable stash for a micro SD card. If you have the need...it is the answer, made well, and fun.

Style Name: Secret Compartment US Nickel Verified Purchase
These are great. I bought a couple of nickels. I don't really have a need for them, but the novelty was interesting.

They fit a Micro SD card as advertised and can withstand a reasonable degree of scrutiny. The machining is executed with a high degree of precision. You have to know to look for a seam then look very closely to find it. If you carry it with your change of course you have to be very careful not to spend your special coin.

You also have to remember to orient the front and back so they both point "up" together. I was sloppy, showed the coin to a friend, and he said "Hey, why's the picture on the back at a funny angle?" I told him it was a rare mistake made at the mint, which makes this coin valuable to collectors. He looked closely but never noticed the seam where the front and back joined.

I gave one to a friend who is about to start a course to become a machinist as and example of the kind of thing he'll be able to create by the time he graduates.
