I would not recommend this stove unless you are mechanically inclined. I have installed heating and plumbing equipment including gas and oil boilers, I have a degree in Physics, and I attended graduate school for engineering. This stove has given me a lot of trouble from the day I bought it. When it runs, it works great, but it will stop running "for no reason". The included documentation is almost useless for diagnosing problems, and the customer support at U. S. Stove, the U. S. distributor, is inconsistent. The first person I talked to there just told me to get rid of it. The second person talked me through the problem over the phone, and sent me the correct repair part.

Please refer to the photographs I have uploaded, or to the parts diagram, page 16 and 17 of your user manual.

The stove is very simple in design, but everything has to be right, for it to start up and continue running. Deep in the guts of the stove, after you remove the side panels, is an adjustment for the intake air damper (#28). This must be adjusted properly, for the stove to start up and to continue running. When I received mine, the damper was wide open. This caused me no end of problems until I figured it out. Start with the damper half closed, or half open, and adjust it so that you get a smooth start up, and a relatively smoke free flame. See my uploaded photograph for a proper flame size. The manufacturer photo shows a flame that is too large, in my experience.

If the stove does not start smoothly, the combustion chamber pressure switch (#40) can be damaged. It can be taken apart and repaired, if you are mechanically inclined. A replacement switch will cost about $40. This is the most likely cause for failure to feed pellets.

It is a total piece of crap! From day one it did not work correctly and after a year of my husband messing with it, it still does not work well. For example every morning I have to restart the stove at least 2x before it will stay on. The only thing good about it is the footprint. I wanted to return this from day one but my spouse did not want to. (Check out Mr. Horton's Review above ;-P.)As Earle wrote once your hold your mouth just right and the stars are in alignment it works great, but most of the time the universe is just not in alignment for this pellet stove.

I've had my stove for a couple years. It does have quirks but once you do a few mods it works great.

- I put a pvc ball valve on the air intake. This way I can change air flow at will (and often do based on pellets and feed rate) It doesn't get hot back there so no worries.
- I also installed a check valve on the air intake so that if the power goes out you don't get smoke in your house.
- Once a week when I clean it I apply high temp gasket sealant to the burn pot so that the air goes through the burn pot not around it. (this GREATLY enhances performance and efficiency.
- I plugged up the air intakes in the door with aluminum tape and high temp sealant to increase air flow through burn pot (holes are under door so the mods aren't visible, still looks good)
- I installed a surge protector just in case.
- I clean the burn pot once daily and use a paint brush to quickly clean the upper interior, this GREATLY increases performance and efficiency
- I bought a bore brush to clean the air passages at the top of the chamber, you can see them if you crouch down. If you don't clean these every so often they plug up.
- The reason for the constant shut downs is the 200* temp sensor attached to the heat deflector protecting the hopper is tripping. Call the company and they will tell you how to fix it.

Sounds like alot of work but once the mods are done all you do is clean which should be done with all pellet stoves. I never have problems now and love the stove.

The stove arrived damaged, the company was amazing they ordered a pick up and quickly removed the stove and are sending us a new oe before they even recieve the damaged one back.

Well since I posted this review, the distribution motor assembly stopped working. It took an act of God to get US Stove Company to responded to calls and emails. Their on-line chat is a joke, it is always off-line. When I was finally able to get a real person on the phone they refused to listen to me as to what part I needed and they sent me the wrong part! Since then it has taken me hours to get through to them and only now have been able to order the right part ( I hope). They were not apologetic at all and didn't seem to care that the stove had only been in operation for 2 months before it broke! Also did not care that this was our only source of heat in this particular wing of the house! I have reported them to the BBB.Which by the way is also having a difficult time contacting the company!!! Please do not purchase from US Stove Company!!! Rebecca

I have had and run this for 3.5 years. It has been wrench and ride since new. When it runs it is GREAT! You best be HANDY to own this. Problems have been 1 shutting off 2 auger stops 3 auger squels 5 failure to ignite 6 distribution motor failed 7 pellet igniter quit 2x 8 lots of vibration noise 8 low temp sensor failed . the specs say up to 20hrs burn time! NOT! the manual says the stove uses 3.5 pounds of pellets per hour on LOW. Do the math = not even 12 hrs. Running steady = 2 bags @ 40 # each is what you will use. Stove still runs though but I just bought a new one -Different Co and thermostat capable. Customer service people at USSC are very polite but do NOT have a clue how their own machines work.
