I have been using these for over a year, and they seem very durable. However, take note that I do take care of them (i.e. I do not drop them onto the ground from high above; instead, I gently lower my hands to the ground before dropping them no more than 4-5 inches off the ground on in-door carpet). They do seem like they can be dropped on concrete just fine too though.

These seem to be constructed well on the outside, but the durability may vary from one set to another because the weights have some kind of powder in them, and a (in my case, well-constructed) plug keeps the powder in.

The clips work well. There are 6 total. Two of the clips are (barely) bigger (but bigger nonetheless) and very strong. These two clips do not slip at all handling the heaviest of weights on this weight set. I use these two clips on one dumbell handle. The other 4 clips are not as strong, but works about as well as the two larger ones when combined. I use 2 of these clips on each side (4 total) of the other dumbbell handle.

I ordered this as a gift, so if you are doing the same be aware of this: the box arrived basically ripped apart, and it looked like the shipping service tried to tape it back together. I was sure pieces would be missing. And it isn't easy to transport all these weights to another box for wrapping. There is the risk that your set will be missing pieces if this is how things get shipped from the warehouse - judging by other reviews, this is pretty much the norm. I guess shipping was free for a reason.

Unlike others, I did somehow receive all the pieces of the set. The weights were definitely dirty. One weight was dented, which I hate since this was a gift. The clips are flimsy, so you may need to purchase different clips. I give the set three stars mostly because it arrived in such bad condition. Overall, this set was a good value - better than most of the dumbbell sets alone with the free shipping. If you are serious about a home gym, this probably isn't the set for you, but like the review title says, the set is decent.

First off, I ALSO did not receive 2 of the five pound weights. So, this ended up being a 100 pound weight set. Ideally you should be able to put equal weights on each side of a bar for proper balance and increase weight by 10 lbs. increments (or 5lbs. if you want to buy 2 1/2 lbs. weights). If you're going to use the two dumbbells together, then you're limited to properly placing exactly 20 lbs! The addition of the 2 missing weights would allow for 10 or 30 lbs, which is a vast improvement.

The bars are made of a sturdy metal, though fairly light and not likely to endure much abuse. The barbell weighs in at roughly 4 lbs and the dumbbells under 2 lbs. a piece. The barbell comes in two pieces which you must pound together on concrete and seems to handle all the weights that come with the set, but i'd be curious how much weight it can handle safely. I suppose if it came apart during a bench press, the weights would simply fall to either side of you harmlessly though. The barbell can fit up to 5 weights on each side and the dumbbells can handle 2 weights per side. The 6 included locking springs do a good job holding the weights in place. You can even tip the dumbbells fully to one side without any sliding.

The weights are a cheap but solid plastic with a plug holding in the fine packed chalky dust that fills these weights. There seemed to be some dust here and there when I unpacked the weights, but it wasn't leaking out of any of the weights. The weights have a nice design on one side mimicking real metal weights but the other side is flat and makes it harder to pick up the weights with one hand than it should be.

Considering the current half-off sale and free shipping, this is just an unbeatable deal. I was tempted to give it 5 stars, but the missing weights are a real issue and I will have to buy some extra weights (though I probably would have bought 2 more 25 lbs weights anyway and maybe even 4 x 2.5 lbs). Honestly, given the price though, I think I'll just buy a second set of these and find somewhere out of the way for the extra bars.

After reading some of the horror story reviews about the Duracast barbell set I wasn't sure if it was worth putting my money into it. It was too much of a deal to pass by though, even if it wound up missing a few parts here and there.

Contrary to my expectations, the barbell set arrived (in less then a week) in perfect condition and it wasn't missing any parts (naturally, or it wouldn't have been in perfect condition). I've been using it for a few weeks now and there is no problems at all so far. It's a good deal, buy it.

I didn't expect much from these weights seeing how I only paid $76 total, but they are decent enough. The bar is a little small for the weight bench I bought so I can't put all the weights on. The plates are a little bulky. They are not the best, but an excellent deal if you consider how much weights cost. I personally prefer Olympic weights, rather than standard, however for 110(5 pound bar) in Olympic weights will run you about $100, but I didn't see any Olympic weights with free shipping, and the shipping is more than the price of the weights. If you are planning on really bulking up or work out often, the I recommend something else. If you are just beginning and only work out once a week or less then these are sufficient.

I recieved this weight set on 8/23/10 and when I got the package I was surprised. The whole package was totally destroyed and had holes and was open, some of the weights even were dented. If you're a beginner you should consider steel weights, and from someone other than this seller. Not buying their products every again that's for sure. Do not recommend at all.

Box arrived with no damage. No parts were missing from package and everything was in perfect condition. Item is very sturdy; clips keep weight plates in place with no slippage. Great value for the money spent. This item is perfect for a woman or anyone else who does not need/want much heavier weights which are much more expensive. I am very pleased with this purchase!

I bought a set of these weights, a bit worried because of the negative reviews regarding shipping. My set arrived with the box beat up, as others have commented, but the contents were all in order. After using them for a few weeks, I liked them so much that I ordered another set. It also arrived in a battered box, but again, all was intact inside. This is a great economy fitness product, and the free shipping makes it a steal.

Recently received this weight set. Packaging was intact, no problems there. Nice set of weights, heavy duty vinyl that won't hurt the floors.

Set was supposed to come with two dumbbell bars, but they were not in the box. Amazon Customer Service says they can't help with missing parts, and my only option was to return it. Not so easy. It weighs 120 lbs., I'm on the third floor and it took two of us to get up the stairs. Since we had already unpacked and put together the long bar (which can not be taken apart once put together), I can't return it.

I called the manufacturer (US Weight, Inc) and they said they will be sending me the two short dumbbell bars. Time will tell if indeed I do get them.

Overall, I'm pleased with the product.


I've been dealing with Amazon for sometime, and this is the first time I have been disappointed with their customer service. I truly hope it is the last.

The weight set itself is everything stated, but like other customers stated, the box leaves alot to be desired. It arrived with 2 holes in the package. So much for a secret gift for Christmas as my husband knew what was in the box by peeking in the holes.
