A Teen's Point of View
This book, although not as interesting as others in the series (It spends too much time talking about gangsters) is still funny and informative. It teaches you a lot of stuff that's not in the textbooks!

Down on Americans
I usually really like the Horrible History books, but this one started out by saying that American History is even more horrible than most. We've had our checkered past to be sure, but I felt there was a real anti American bias in this book.

We bought this for our 9-year-old boy for Christmas and he loves this book. It really got him reading with enthusiasm. Ever since he has very keen on history and I recently bought him a 20 box set of the Horrible History Series. If you like history for kids to be fun, entertaining and honest, this is for you.

Very interesting book for the teen age boys in our life. They are fascinated with the details of history and oh by the way they actually learn history from this book. There are many books in this series all of them are very helpful to encouraging reading by the these young men.

What's the old saying? "Caveat Emptor!" I've done some dum things in my life, but buying this sight-unseen and without much research ranks right up there with the dummest! (Yeah, I know how to spell, too!)
Anyway, I thought I'd find something different for my grandkids to chew on while learning some good ol' 'Merican History. Luckily, I had it sent to me first, to get some flavor of the meat, so to speak. Being an ex-history teacher, I know some "stuff." And the "stuff" this book presents is GARBAGE! Revisionist history doesn't even do it justice! It's barely history a'tall. If you enjoy reading material which is akin to offal, buy this one! If you delight in those that bash America and her glories and successes, waste your dinero on this trash. Contribute to those who believe our not-quite-perfect-but-closer-than-anything-else nation should be defamed and berated at every opportunity: Buy this book! (And regret it evermore, just as do I.) Oh, yeah. The only "chewin' on" that this book will get in my family will be by my boxer. She enjoys chew toys. |
