Product Description

The USA Pans Six Well, Mini Round Cake Panel Pan is constructed of aluminized steel, the material of choice for commercial cookeries and bakeries. The metal thickness of pan has been selected to allow for even heat distribution and maximum service life. Pan is coated with Americoat. Americoat is a proprietary silicone coating. It provides a clear, non-stick, non-toxic baking surface, specially formulated for superior baking. It's FDA approved; it does not contain PTFE's or PFOA's. It is not recommended to exceed baking temperature of 450 degrees F. Easy care. To clean, simply wipe clean after use; soap and water are okay to use. It is not recommended that pan be washed in dishwasher because harsh chemicals can cause the non-stick material to breakdown in time. Dry pan completely, after cleaning. USA Pans is the newest line of bakeware developed by American Pan, the world's largest manufacturer of commercial bakeware. Pans are made of 65-percent recycled steel. Made in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA. Lifetime warranty. The maximum temperature for all USA Pans bakeware items is 450 degrees F and not 400 degrees F.

Nice heavy pan and the nonstick coating seems to work very well.

I bought two of these pans over a year ago and they have rewarded me with the best hamburger buns I have ever tasted! I got the recipe on the King Arthur Flour website and the amount of effort required is well worth the time. The buns bake up beautifully and they easily release from the lightly-greased (I don't use Pam)wells. I usually grill the buns for a crispy texture, but that is just a matter of personal preference.
The buns store well in the fridge and I have frozen them without loss of taste/texture for several months. The bun size is perfect for a standard-sized burger. You will enjoy this pan and you may never buy hamburger buns again...I certainly haven't!!!

They made this pan intending that you should pass it on the the grand-kids. It's that well made.
First, it's heavy. You see it all the time in ads - "commercial weight", "professional quality"; well, I managed a bakeshop for 4 years and this is truly a commercial grade pan.
Second, it fits in my microwave. That may sound crazy, but I use my microwave and a very hot towel to rise gluten free yeast breads (thanks, Nicole!). So it fits perfectly and my breads rise to the occasion.
I used some baking spray under my first batch of gluten-free burger buns, and when I pulled them from the oven there were droplets of spray on the pan. Not baked-on grease, but droplets that rolled off into the sink. The buns were perfectly browned and lovely. I'm sure that after 400 uses, if I live that long, the non-stick coating will still be laughing at sticky stuff.
I bought this to make GF burger buns for my hubby, and it did that very well. I'll have to come up with some other recipes to keep it feeling useful.
Cleanup? Please. A swish with the soapy sponge and done. A hot water rinse would have done just as well.
It's pricey, but if you are looking for a pan that could very well outlive you, this is your jam.

Update one year later: Still LOVING the pan. I use it for just about everything, making small cakes instead of one big one, little cornbreads, mini pies and tarts, you name it. Slip the little guys into a zippy bag and hubby has a snack when he wants it. Cleans up easily and nothing sticks, well worth the price.

Even later update 8/14: The pan was starting to show some darkening from built-up grime, since I just swish it clean. I used scrubbing bubbles (yep) sprayed on for about 5 minutes to loosen up the crud so I could scrub it off.

This is a great pan. It is heavy and well-made and the non-stick coating is above average. I have used it for cinnamon rolls and hamburger buns so far, and both have turned out just wonderfully. I am now envisioning a selection of brownies and blondies, maybe chocolate cake split into two layers with creamy frosting between the layers and chocolate ganache on the top. And yellow sponge cake with strawberries and whipped cream. The pan's sides are not straight; the base is 3.5 inches and the top is 4 inches, but this is not a huge drawback. I expect this pan will live forever with good care, and I will report back if it does not meet these expectations.

If you want to make your own buns, there really is no other pan available to do it, and it works quite well. A little pricey but you'd have to seriously abuse it to wear it out. If you do use it for quickbreads, I would still recommend greasing the pan to prevent sticking, but yeast breads pop right out without any effort.

One note, the wells have a tapered wall, not a straight wall, and this will show in your finished products.

I was looking everywhere for a pan that would mimic the buns that are full of the allergens that my family can't ingest. I found it with this pan!! It is heavy duty and I've been using it several times a week for different kinds of buns....from hamburger buns to sandwich rolls with sesame seeds. Of course all my bread is gluten, dairy and soy free but if I didn't tell you....you'd never know. Even my husband eats them....though he will not eat any allergy free breads or rolls I buy. He says that these are soft and very filling and taste very good. I believe him.... ;-) He definitely wouldn't eat them if he didn't like them. I recommend these pans whole heartedly.

I ordered and used one USA Pan and I was sold. I now own six. These are heavy, absolutely nonstick and phenomenally easy clean up. The baked contents literally fall out of them and have a perfect browning on the bottom and sides. Out of habit, I do lightly spray with nonstick cooking spray. With other pans, overspray of cooking oil baked on and it was impossible to scrub it off. No problems with these pans. The packaging says to spray with cooking oil, but I really wonder if it is necessary. Often cleanup is a wipe with a paper towel. Be aware that you may need to reduce the cooking temperature of products per the product literature, and I have also found this to be true. Also, remove your baked goods immediately after cooking as I have had products be perfect when removed from oven, and if I let them cool in these pans, they burn on the bottom. Right now, I use this particular pan to make sandwich thins, but this pan will be versatile (hamburger buns, mini pies, individual cakes, cinnamon rolls, muffins, baked omlettes). I was worried that some reviewers said the wells were tapered. I guess they are, but it is so slight that I might never have noticed it. The top is 4 inches and the bottom is 3 1/2 inches.
