5.0 out of 5 stars Rule of Acquisition #284: Deep down, everyone's a Ferengi.
Having recently reviewed this for my blog I thought I would offer a summary for Amazon: If you enjoy the game Monopoly and are a Star Trek fan you can't go wrong here. The design of the game is quite well balanced between all the series and films, so fans of every part of the Star Trek universe should find something they enjoy.

We're big Star Trek fans and were a little disappointed in this game. I think we finally decided that whoever designed it wasn't a fan, but had one reference book and just based everything on that. Everything from their choices for the little pewter pieces to the properties themselves were strange and seemed kind of thoughtless. A musical instrument and wine goblet!!?? Someone who has never seen Star Trek could have come up with more iconic elements! And there's just no excuse for having the traditional "Jail" instead of a "Brig". And "Free Parking" should have been "Raisa" or a "docking station" at least!

I get why they kept the standard house and hotel shapes even though they renamed them "ships" and "fleets". I'm sure casting something original would have been expensive, but it just comes off as cheap.

Overall the game is as fun as Monopoly can be. But the properties weren't placed with any relevance - like they were taken right out of that one reference book and then just shuffled and placed.

If you're a Star Trek fan, go with Star Trek Scene It!

Each of the properties becomes a planet, the train stations a starship and the counters either a Vulcan lute, TOS shuttlecraft, TOS movie-era hand phaser, TOS communicator, Kirk's command chair or a blood wine goblet (perhaps the least balanced element of the game with all that TOSness)

The elements customised from your standard Monopoly to make them Star Treky are nicely done, with latinum used as the currency and the chance and community chest cards replaced with "subspace transmissions" and "sensor readings" giving you fines for the likes of being cured of the Klingon augment virus and repair bills after Borg attacks!

Additionally the game comes with a great suggestion for additional Star Trek rules when you role doubles, allowing plays to travel through time or attempt to assimilate another player's property.

Any Star Trek fan should love this.

I love this game. Of course I love Monopoly AND I love Star Trek. I agree with an earlier reviewer who said the planets were kinds of haphazardly laid out, but it doesn't take away from the Trek experience. I would play it every day if I didn't have to earn a living.

I purchased this game as a gift for a family headed by another genuine Star Trek fan. She loves it ... I love it ... her family loves it ... perfect! It's a great way to bring back wonderful memories of all the 'Star Trek' series, as well as introduce new fans to the older series in a fun, familiar way.

Definitely a fun game for the whole family!

We are always looking for ways to have students socially interact with board games...computer ones are great...but classic board games are better. This type of game brings the classic game into the lives of the 21st century student. Great purchase.
