After days of painstaking research I finally decided to get this one. I was a bit skeptical at first, but since this would be my first webcam and I wasnt looking for anything too fancy or expensive I thought I would give it a shot. The package arrived a day early and within a few minutes I was chatting it up with my friends on skype. This webcam's video quality is actually pretty good, the built in microphone is good too, nothing special though, I would advise getting an external microphone or headset if you really want top-notch sound quality. The still pictures it takes are good too. If you are looking for a webcam with good quality and a great price then I would suggest this one, mind you its not the greatest webcam ever but, it will get the job done and will not disappoint.

I've used several webcams in the sub $40 range and decided to try once more.
This is the best quality picture I've ever had on a webcam, and it's the cheapest.

I bought it for a computer running Vista, plugged it in, and it worked.
No crappy software to install, no configuring, just plug & go.

The focus can be controlled by turning the camera lens.
The lights are controlled by a dial on the cord.

If you're looking for a webcam, and not professional video equipment, This one is perfect.

I got this for a friend as an X-Mas gift so that we could talk on Skype. It stands a bit shorter than I expected, but that's ok because it doesn't need to take up a lot of space. The picture quality and microphone clarity are better than I expected for the price. The lights on it are pretty cool and easy to adjust. It has a very nice look on a desk. It's a simple plug & play and Skype picked it up instantly.

We received this webcam and the camera itself is very easy to use and has a clear picture. However, the Amazon online description said that it has a built-in microphone, and there doesn't seem to be one. The box that it came in does not specify a microphone, either.

We've tried everything and can't get this supposed built-in microphone to work. Will be returning the item.

This camera is exactly what I was looking for to use with Skype. Literally plug and play, the camera worked instantly and only one dialog box popped up that asked me what sort of audio device I had plugged in (I'm using Windows XP). I had it running in less than one minute. For the poor people who can't find the microphone, it's the tiny hole directly below the camera eye, and it works great. The other reviews are right--the LED lights don't seem to do a thing, but you can turn them off easily if you don't like them. The camera is smaller than it appears, portable, and easily adjustable. Its metal finish and LED lights make it so cute, you're going to want to name it. I ordered from HottestDealEver and mine came new in package with a microfiber lens cleaning cloth as well as a free LED light keychain.

I was surprised at how easy it was to activate this camera. Just plug and play. I have a Windows Vista Home Premium and not all accessories are usable on my system. The camera has a very good image for transmission. So good I had to trim my nose hairs because everybody could see them and made comments. The built in microphone has very clear sound. I now can SKYPE! I would highly recommend this model.

This camera is being sold as a 5MP camera. When I received it, the carton had several boxes that were supposed to be checked indicating the resolution. The boxes only went up to 2.1MP. None of the boxes were checked and nowhere on the carton or unit does it mention 5MP. From looking at the display picture, It doesn't look like a 5MP picture, very noisy (Yes, I know about the manual focus). At the low price I paid, there is really no reason to be deceptive in describing the camera. Another thing. There are no instructions included. I know this may seem incredibly basic but, I couldn't figure out how to turn the LEDs on. I spent several frustrating minutes looking the camera body over, searching for a switch. If I hadn't read someone else's review, I don't know how long it would have taken me to figure out that the light is controlled by a switch attached to the middle of the cable. Maybe I'm not as intuitive as I should be but there ought to be some kind of basic instructions. BTW, I read another review that said that it did not work with Windows 7. Mine works fine with 7, no problem at all.

Pros: Cheap, very easy to install - realy plug & play, took less than 3 min; picture and sound quality accaptable. Works good with Skype.
Cons: Falls apart, dificult to make it stand up-right. I tried to download software from the web at specified by vendor location (make sure you copy and paste this link exactly, you type W in lower case, link does not work - [...] ; my best guess this model is listed by vendor as A36 - Webcam with Microphone, Metal Finish - no drivers or software for this model.
Most disapinting for me: LED lights do not work, so it is not usable at low light.
Bottom line: for under $[...] it is OK, but maybe you can find something that works as advertised.

5.0 megapixel has a great image, decent focus, not too sure about the LED lights, cool, but not very illuminating. Software available online at the seller's site. Not bad for the price, built in mic could be better.

This item was one I took a chance on as I have a Mac Mini running OS X and I wasn't sure if it would work. For $16, I figured I could take a chance.

After plugging in the USB cord and then a restart, I was up and running on the video. The microphone worked but wasn't as strong as I wanted and I've since put an external mic on my system (and changed input locations in Sound settings). For Skype, iChat, etc -- this is unit works fine. I have even been able to use Quicktime Pro to record video.

For minimal need, this works great.
