This is definitely a useful book to buy. However, I must say one thing. If you already have the second edition to this book, then DO NOT buy this book. It is almost EXACTLY the same, word for word. There are only a few minor changes, but other then that it is the same. There are some newer pictures that are better in quality, and the actual printing of the book is higher quality, but as far as actual substance, it is the same. I thought there would be new updates when i purchased it and compared it to my second edition, and I saw there was really no difference. There were I believe 5 new points in the obstetrics section, and a few different Drugs of Choice for the ID portion. Other then that, it was literally word for word the same thing. So I ended up returning the 3rd edition and just stuck with my 2nd edition. So it is up to you, if you feel like spending extra money for not a whole lot extra, go ahead and buy the 3rd edition, but if you want to save a good amount of money, you can find the 2nd edition for under $5 and get the same information. Either way, I do recommend this book and feel it is necessary in addition to USMLE World Q-Bank to Step 2 CK prep. Best of luck!

This book is informative and concise, reviewing all of the essential high-yield material for the USMLE Step 2 CK. I have browsed other USMLE Step 2 CK preparation books, but this one has the best mixture of breadth and depth of coverage of the wide range of topics encountered during the third year of medical school. Not only has this text been helpful as a brief review of topics before each third year clerkship, it covers much of the information tested on the Step 2 CK. The text is laid out in a logical manner and the explanations of the topics make sense. I would highly recommend to any third year medical student or anyone studying for the USMLE Step 2 CK to purchase this text.

Edit: Received score back today, got a 275. This was the only book I used, in addition of course to the question bank.

This is a great resource to carry in you lab coat throughout your third year. It has great information that will help prepare you for USMLE Step 2 while providing good review on the wards. The book is high yield and I would definitely recommend this book as a starter for studying. As the exam gets closer more information will be helpful such as USMLE World. A must buy for those that want to succeed with competitive board scores

Highly recommend this blessing of a book. I read it twice, once before doing my Uworld questions and then again the week right before step 2. I swear I think there were questions on the exam that could have been lifted straight off this book! Great read too, will not overwhelm you with words and gets right to the point of what you need to know. I scored a 260 on exam reading this and doing uworld. Good luck!

I felt that this book was great for a quick review after you have exhausted all the other resources for study. I read this book in 4-5 days before the exam, and found that it really helped me remember little details that I had forgotten along the way. I found the Biostats section to be particularly helpful. Cardio left much to be desired, but I used Conrad Fischer's Master the Boards for that section in particular, which is very well written and laid out in an easy-to-read format. One more thing- I usually do not like question and answer format-type books, but this was good for last minute review, and I found this to be more helpful than Crush in the final hour.

This book is a great review for step 2. I love the format: Q&A. It's a quick and easy read, especially if you have some free time while on the wards. It's also small enough to fit in your coat pocket. I would definitely recommend this book!

Um, I think the book manages to cover a lot of essential topics. It's brief and explanatory at the same time, a feature that's really hard to get in review books this size.

this book works, period. have you ever seen a book get only 4 and 5 stars on amazon? usually someone has issues. i will be waiting, in the mean time this is really the only book you'll need in addition to a qbank. what makes it awesome is the format is so easy to follow. now i will say there might be a few places where you will need to confirm 2nd and 3rd best treatment options but it looks like they just updated this book so they will likely take care of that.

This book is great for step two study. It is a small book but a very thorough review. I used it with Kaplan and First Aid.

Just bought this book and I loooooove it. It's like having a really wise study partner. Each chapter is made up of high yield information presented in Q&A format and some easy-to-study tables. It's a cinch just to cover the answers or cover up columns and study. It's also small enough to carry around everywhere, so I can study easily on the bus and train. Would definitely recommend this to anyone in 3rd year rotations and preparing for their shelf exams and the Step 2.
