This review is from: USPS PS-100 10 lb. Desk Top Postal Scale (Misc.)
When I began selling on eBay some of the many toy train items I've collected over the years, I found myself driving ten miles to and from the Post Office almost every day. Then I learned that I could mail packages from my home using the USPS Web site Click-N-Ship feature, getting a discount on postage cost, free delivery confirmation, and a big savings on gasoline by not having to drive across town every time I had a box to be mailed. All I needed was a scale to weigh my outgoing boxes.
The PS-100 10 lb. Desk Top Postal Scale met this need perfectly. It's accurate and extremely simple to use. The "Hold" feature is particularly convenient if one is weighing a large box that blocks sight of the read-out window. Press "Hold" and the weight remains displayed even after removing the package. I was also surprised at how small and light weight the scale is. It's perfect for a kitchen counter or desk top and can be easily picked up and moved with one hand. It's really proving to be a great time and money-saver, and, of course, it can be used to weigh other things that require accurate measurement in grams, ounces, or pounds-and-ounces. Each of these units of weight can be easily and quickly selected for display. It occurs to me that cooks may find it useful for measuring ingredients by weight (although my wife and I have yet to fight over who gets to use it first!) Just remember that the scale does have a ten-pound weight limit. It is designed for light-weight, in-home use, so I suspect that it might not be appropriate for a business selling heavier items. Other than that single caution, I find no shortcomings whatsoever in the scale and am entirely pleased with it.

LOVED this scale for the first 60 days. I used it about twice a week, weighing packages ranging from 2 ounces to 2 pounds. I really liked the fact that it measured in tenths of ounces so I could lose a peanut to get the weight down to save on postage. HOWEVER.... after very light use and a short period of time - it just stopped turning on. It wasn't dropped/banged or otherwise misused. It just died. The good news - Amazon provided OUSTANDING customer service in accepting a return. I'm hopeful that it was just a bad apple and the replacement will last longer!

This flat scale is a mighty little giant, weighing packages and envelopes up to 10 pounds. Inner panel lifts to hold items upright. Push button ease and much more accurate than my spring loaded weight scale. Just turn it off when it's not in use.

So, like other reviewers of this product, I was a little disgusted that my scale stopped working after a period of inactivity. For some reason, it hung around, and during the summer, I was about to toss it when I noticed it had started working again. Huh! Well, so I kept it, and then I needed to weigh something earlier today. Nothing, would not power on. Most annoying. But it had come back to life once, I was trying to think why. So as a test, I let it sit for awhile on a warm surface while I worked on some other stuff. Try it again a half hour later, and it powers on fine. I think it just won't start if it is cold. Its a great scale, but this is a pretty hilarious glitch to have with it. Especially something electronic, that has to be warmed up before it will start.
use a sun-warmed windowsill, or if one is not forthcoming, I used a heating pad on low. DON'T put in your microwave for god sake!!! I'd hate to have someone misunderstand "warm it up"

A easy to use, compact scale that can pay for itself in postage savings. The only thing missing is a screen that would tell you the postage due and the weight. Mike G

My scale worked great for 6 months; then it simply would not turn on again. Dead as a dodo bird. Read the other comments; at last one other person had this same problem. I never overloaded it or otherwise abused the product.

I got this scale from USPS for my home business. I use it to weigh light packages that are usually 2 lbs or less. The thing is great, but it only works when it feels like it. I have not transported it anywhere so I haven't tossed it around. It's just a cheaply made scale, and USPS doesn't allow returns.
UPDATE: I contacted Measurement Ltd.,the company that makes this scale for the USPS in reference to the issues I was having with this scale. My e-mail was returned within a couple of hours and the representative told me to box it up and send it to them with a description of the problem. About two weeks later, a brand new scale arrived at my door with no hassle from the company. This one seems to work better than the previous one ever did and is much faster to power up. My original rating was 2 stars, but I have now changed it to 4 stars because of the company's willingness to stand behind its product. I'm very glad they did because I really want to love this scale. It allows you to switch between different measurements (kg, lbs, ounces, grams) and is a great size considering that it will weigh packages up to 10 lbs. Add in the option to use 110v power or 3 "AA" batteries, and this one is a winner - providing it continues to work.

I've has this scale less than a year, and it quit. It won't work with the adapter or with new batteries installed. Of course it is past the point of returning it, unless I pay shipping and receive a "partial" refund. It's probably not worth my time to return it.

I'm definitely getting my money's worth out of this scale. It took me a while to decide it was worth investing in, but I've already used it to save money on shipping by using USPS's click-n-ship feature printing out shipping labels after weighing packages at home (rate is cheaper with free delivery confirmation) and by avoiding overpaying for letter postage (additional postage needed for anything over 1 oz.) by simply checking with this scale - previously I would just guess and add on another stamp when I probably didn't need to but felt it would be better to be safe. I've also used it in the kitchen for cooking by weight which saves on having to wash extra measuring cups. The tare, hold, and different weight options (lb/oz for shipping, gm for cooking) have all worked flawlessly. I'm very happy with the functions and accuracy. The only thing I have to remind myself of is not to immerse it in water when washing flour off of the scale when baking, etc. I've had no problems having it wipe clean with a damp towel. I really love that it works cordlessly with batteries, but you have the power cord provided in case you want to use it that way too. This is a great simple scale - get this instead of separate scales for shipping and for cooking!
