This video documents day-to-day activities aboard USS Boxer during the 1950s. Includes excellent shots of the carrier, dramatic flight deck activities and scenes of the 1952 fire aboard Boxer. Video also includes good scenes of Boxer operating off the coast of Korea during the war and excellent scenes shot below deck of various compartments. This part of the video is not narrated and includes a music soundtrack. The last part of the video is a narrated Navy film produced in the late 1950s and titled "Vertical Assault" highlighting two helicopters employed by the Marine Corps. Nearly all the scenes were filmed aboard USS Boxer, CV-21/ CVA-21. The choppers were part of Marine Air Group 26. The 8th Provisional Marine Brigade also participates in amphibious landings.
