Good Bipod, Bad Height,

This review is from: UTG Bipod, SWAT/Combat Profile, Adjustable Height (Sports)
Initially, looks sweet on my gun. Its easy to fold up and down with your support hand.
PROS: Swivels left and right easily only when gun is resting on it Attaches to a weaver/picatinny rail or sling swivel Comes with a sling swivel stud attachment Spring-loaded legs for uneven terrain All metal construction CONS: Too short for rifles with large capacity magazines SUMMARY: Great bipod, but not able to be used with rifles that have high capacity magazines (AK's, AR's, Mini-14). For instance, it will not work with an AR-15 or AK-47, due to the magazine length, but would work with hunting rifles, long range pistols or, if you're weird, a shotgun. As for durability, it's indestructable. I think it is worth the money, given that it's so inexpensive.

UTG bipod,

First, I have 2 of these now. The one I just ordered has the rubber feet and the other one has the steel feet. These are low bi-pods. The finish is high quality and I have not noticed any wearing except where the legs fold up but of course that is metal on metal. For the most part it does not scratch easily. The aluminum used appears to have a hardened finish on it. These are made to be set up quickly and be light on the gun. They attach either by way of the weaver rail or it comes with a bi-pod adapter with sling mount.I have no problem with using a regular 30 round mag with it. These types of bi-pods are generally not used laying in the prone. Generally they would be used in a window sill, on a ledge of some kind, the top of a wall, from a car hood to name a few . However even in a prone position there is no problem with the mag hitting against the ground(when you use proper shooting form). What I like about these is they can be set up on the fly. They can be set up quietly. There are no noisy springs. The legs lock in solid. The height is adjustable from 175 mm to 185 mm. By way of a locking knurled collar. The legs are spring activated so they pop out when the collar is loosened. When not in use they fold forward out of the way. but can quickly be deployed one handed. It is compact enough, most of the time I leave the legs deployed. If you are looking for a compact bi-pod that has all of the features of the big boys. This is the one for you.

Bipod too short for tactical rifles,
By Jim H. "Jim H." (Washington, NC) - See all my reviews

UTG has several different models of this same bipod, differing only in how much extension the legs have. This product is the "S" model, whose legs only extend 0.8", which is too short to be of any value for tactical rifles. It is DEFINITELY not a SWAT/Combat Profile, as described. I should have heeded the other reviews before I ordered it for my Mini-14 and SIG 522. If you have a tactical rifle, DO NO order this bipod. I'm stuck with it now, as it will cost 25% of the cost to return it.
