4.0 out of 5 stars Nice for the price
Scope is nice on my S&W M&P15-22. Looks aggressive while still being functional and not costing an arm and a leg. The illumination feature is very helpful with changing light, target color, and distance. I have read all kinds of reviews on illuminated scopes where people have mentioned, or complained, the light fills the scope tube. Putting a light into a pipe has a...

1.0 out of 5 stars Buyer Beware
Leapers has a no-refund policy, which I can confirm from firsthand experience (I am still out $68 for a product which I paid to ship back and which they have in their possession). They sell equipment under both the Leapers and the UTG brand name. Both lines are made in China and BOTH are of airsoft or paintball quality. Do not use either for for real weapons that have...

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice for the price, February 15, 2011

This review is from: UTG 4x32 Compact Rubber Armored Mil-Dot RBG Illuminated Scope (Apparel)
Putting a light into a pipe has a tendency to do that people. Found this does as well but not as bad as some other brands that I have looked at. Also the illumination can be adjusted so it is not as intense and gives you just enough light to highlight the reticle without having a ton of excess light.

Pros:
Nice elevation/windage adjustment knobs. No screwdriver needed like so many other scopes in this price range. Knobs have secure and smooth clicks. Easy to operate even with gloves.
Very clear view at 100 yards. Good at 50 yards as well but just a hair fuzzy.
Flip covers work nicely and are secure.
Dual mounting options of either handle or rail.
Comes with extra hardware and an extra battery.
Rubber protector for keeping it all together. (Live in high desert and sudden sand winds very common)
Sits high enough to mount small laser (Inch or less) underneath scope on top rail without obstructing view.
Distinct off position for illumination so no wasted batteries.

Cons:
Battery cover does not feel real secure but did not come lose from 200 rounds.
Eye relief seems inaccurate, though close. More like 3 inches not 3.5 inches.
Dust caps for adjusters a little rough on realigning for putting back on.
No focus adjustment. (Not needed for my use but could be issue for others)

Just getting back into shooting so wanted to keep affordable until I get my technique back. Though I am a little rusty at shooting I still had good groupings, though off from center, but this was due to my rusty techniques and not the scope. This one was off by about 10 inches to the right, straight out of the box, at 100 yds, but was obvious and adjusted in nicely with room to spare on the adjuster.

General warning. I have recently purchased 3 different items from UTG/Leapers and the first of all three showed up with some issue. Laser had a defective pressure switch cap, tactical light had damaged o-rings, and first scope was missing parts (though I think some one bought and removed from package and then returned it). So be prepared that QC is a little weak on their products, however have been perfectly happy with replacements and had no issues so far.

4.0 out of 5 stars Pretty nice for the price point, February 21, 2011
This review is from: UTG 4x32 Compact Rubber Armored Mil-Dot RBG Illuminated Scope (Apparel)
Took me about 20 rounds to sight in. I was on paper @ 50 yards on the first shot after rough sighting at home using points of reference though the iron sights. I added a cheek riser (on my Bushy AR) to help eliminate parallax issues which all but prevents me from using the iron sights. Cheek riser pops off if I need to go that route.

Not too happy with the Velcro used to attach the light cable to my vertical foregrip. I do like the switching mechanism however. It's smooth and quiet. At first I didn't think I would use the cable system but went that route in the end. I still think I need to do some fine tuning at the range to really zero this in.

Overall, 4 out of 5 stars. I believe this is waterproof. I think all Leapers are. Flip cap lens covers are a little cheap but I got them working fine too.

I don't know what else I can say that might help. If you're on a budget and want a descent bad ass looking optic on your AR, this fits nice and works as expected. Gives me the confidence I needed at and beyond 100 meters. I wish this had more eye relief. Again, works nice with the 1.5" cheek riser I added.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good little scope for a ar-15, April 22, 2010

I purchased this scope as a add-on to my Ar-15.I have a carry handle Ar and a NCSTAR 5" pic/weaver see-thru rail. It fits real great on the mount. It sits nicely on the rail and the handle. It fits just at the right point on the rifle to switch from my iron sights to the scope.Instant clear veiw of the target with an easy transtion. The illumination is really bright on the green, but can be dimmed by the control knob. A little drawback is the red is not as bright as the green. Also it does not use the 2032 battery but the 1620 battery as stated by some spec listing. I have not had a chance to go zero it in on my ar. I hope to do so in few weeks. So far this fits the bill for good scope with not having to make a big investment in cash. Good quality and feel. Looks real cool on my AR Too.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic scope for the money!, January 14, 2012

This review is from: UTG 4x32 Compact Rubber Armored Mil-Dot RBG Illuminated Scope (Apparel)
Scope is pretty good. Got it sighted in at 25 yds and was tearing the center out of the targets with my Saiga AK-47. Couldn't get it sighted in at 100 yds though. This could be because I went straight from 25 yds to 100 yds without sighting it in closer. Also I found out the mounting screws had come loose through 100 rds (only finger tightened them). Going to give it another try this weekend by sighting it in at 25 yds, then 50 yds, and finally 100 yds. The scope is very sturdy. I put 250 rds through it with no problems. The clarity through the scope is great too. The illumination feature is very nice and I like being able to select green or red depending on target color. I feel like if I dropped the scope it would cause zero damage. I also like that it comes with the equation cheat card to figure out bullet drop and also distance estimation for use with the mil-dot system. All in all I am very happy with this purchase.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice Little Optic for the money., December 31, 2011
This review is from: UTG 4x32 Compact Rubber Armored Mil-Dot RBG Illuminated Scope (Apparel)
UTG has done it again. This is a pretty nice little mil dot optic. It only took about 10 rounds to zero it at 50 yards and it's held it own. The only thing I don't like so much is the rubber coating on the knobs makes it hard to put the battery cover on and the turret covers. Other than that if you are looking for a bargain optic to go out and have a lil fun shooting paper or even hunting this one is top notch and it won't break the bank to do it. I will update as soon as get to see what it can do for some long range shooting.

Do not use either for for real weapons that have any actual recoil, or you will be picking pieces up off the ground. If it was a U.S. company, it would be sued for falsely using the words "tactical" and "mil-spec" in any of their product descriptions.
