You have to file it a little to make it fit right.

It fits nicely now but not without lots of work. It took me probably about 30 minutes of filing to finally get it to fit. I don't mind a little work if it pays off, and it did. Heavy duty product weighs probably twice as much as the stock dust cover.

The reason I rated this poorly is because the description on here states that its easy to install with no tools required. The instructions that come with the product say otherwise. Prepare to a good deal of filing, so make sure you have a good file to make this easier. I even thought of putting a sanding disk on my grinder to speed up the process but if you you take too much off it will be sloppy. I have a chinse norinco sks and it ended up pretty sturdy although I only filed until I had just enough room to force the reciever cover hold down pin in. They should bolt or weld metal plates on the side that extend down over the sides of the receiver to prevent side to side moving of this scope mount cover. If you file a little too much you could do this to heal the sloppiness, or if you want to make it really stable(might do this myself). As it comes I can move the rear of the cover side to side a very small amount with some hand force even though it is tight(although maybe not tight enough to prevent movement during firing) and this would throw off accuracy at longer ranges.

I bought one of these, thinking people generally don't do things correctly and that's probably why so many people can't get this mount to work for them. I was wrong in this particular instance. I filed the tips of the prongs down equally until the cover had to be forced on with the barrel digging into my carpet and a good portion of my bodyweight was bearing down on it. I thought, "Ok, awesome. If it's possible to have a perfectly zeroed scope with this mount, that I will have." I took it to the range with a red dot scope I also bought from Amazon.com. I was actually very pleased with the results! I hit everything I intended to, and could easily rip my bottle and other miscellaneous for-fun targets to pieces quickly and accurately. My groups were tremendously better at 100 yards, too, although I halfway think this is because I took my time a little more with the scope mounted than I did with the open sights. Either way, mid-range accuracy was extremely satisfying. But then, something happened. I took the rifle home, and apart for a thorough cleaning, as I always do after a trip to the range. I reassembled the rifle, and to my severe disappointment, the mount had somehow developed significant slack! I took an adjustable wrench and used that as a lever to slightly bend the prongs outward on the receiver cover, a step in the instructions I admittedly had omitted, in the hope that it would add sufficient tension to make the mount once again rock-solid. I succeeded... at first. The mount felt like it was ready to go, and so a few days later, mostly out of frustration, I went back to the range to try again. This time, however, I brought along a 4x magnified scope to really see what kind of accuracy I could see out of the SKS.Read more ›

Pros, you can still use your irons with this mount. Cons, its not very stable. When mounting you have to file the mount to fit, I may have taken a little too much off because it seems to be a bit wobbly. Should be good for a red dot scope not sure about how stable it would be with a variable power scope. All in all pretty good and would recommend.

It took some work to get this on my Norinco SKS and it is not a very rigid mount. nothing you can do will get it to stay put (shims etc.). I would not really recomend this unless you just want your rifle to look pretty with a scope on it. I would probably buy the B-Square mount instead! That's my plan...

this is some awful junk, this item looks nothing like the picture, try looking at a rusty piece of scrap metal put together, never mind filing this product you will probable end up filing the whole product before you will get it to fit, when I finished and got it to fit, I did what I should have done in the beginning bought a mount drill two holes and now put on the perfect scope, the one star I gave was being nice.

I purchased 2 of these for Yugo SKS rifles that I purchased. They installed easily with only slight fitting modification to the front mating pins. They fit tight and Scope holds zero. I do recommend these for anyone wanting to mount a scope on an SKS.
