Upgrade is always good!

They can cost a lot, but they will hold up for as long as your gun will.

The bolt can not tolerate the additional strain of the upgrade spring.

Honestly there has been a lot of debate on whether this upgrade does anything at all. First of all it comes with a metal pistol and spring guide. More metal parts equals a more durable and long lasting gun. That is the first pro to this upgrade kit. When I first got this in it made pulling the bolt back considerably more diffucult. After a while the spring broke in and it got a little easier. This upgrade definitely increased the FPS. The accuracy might have increased a little but not that significant. All in all I would definitely recommend this product.

Pros-
More Metal Parts
Higher FPS
Maybe a Little More Accurate

Cons-
The Bolt is a Little More Difficult to Pull Back
May Not Increase Accuracy

This upgrade is great, it adds a lot more longevity to the gun as well as power. Don't be fooled by bad reviews, they made the mistake of buying this upgrade kit without upgrading their trigger box first. This can be fixed buy either buying a UTG made metal trigger box, which I own *very durable*, that can be found here: UTG S368 Shadow Ops Sniper Rifle Metal Trigger Assembly or if you're willing to spend more money than others, buy a Zero Trigger. They can cost a lot, but they will hold up for as long as your gun will. Just make sure to buy one or the other together with this upgrade kit.

*FYI, the crappy plastic trigger box will break eventually whether you upgrade your gun or not*

What others say is true about bolt pull becoming slightly harder, but it's only in comparison to the stock bolt pull, it's nothing to worry about and you get used to it after a while. If you can't cycle the bolt back at all, I would suggest hitting up the weight room.

First off, I bought this for my UTG Shadow ops sniper rifle. I bought this upgrade along with the utg metal trigger box because the stock trigger box cracked and rendered the gun useless. The stock parts were rated for about 1500-2000 shots and with care, i got about 3500+ shots out of it. no complaint with the stock parts. but with any sniper rifle, the sheer force behind every shot eventually wore down the stock components. The main reason I bought this piston and spring upgrade kit was since I was taking apart the gun for the trigger, i might as well upgrade the other internals. I did not go wrong. Taking out the stock piston and spring was a two man job because handling and unscrewing the piston internals needed 4 hands, but I just had a friend help, and it only took about 20 minutes for two of us to change both the piston and spring and the trigger box...not bad for the first time.
A thing that blew me away was the power of the stock piston and spring....the piston and rod were both plastic. so much power and it was not even as airtight as it could have been. once we put in these full-metal upgrades, the gun felt even more powerful than it already was. the metal components are even more airtight, and every shot packs a bigger punch. I chronoed the gun with stock parts with .43g bbs (for those who dont know, .43g is VERY heavy for airsoft guns; only use for sniper rifles in moderation because it will wear out your parts) and with .43g, i was at 360fps. I have yet to chrono with all my upgrades, but after calibrating and testing out this bad boy, i predict that i am shooting about 40fps....with .43g!! I have to be careful now when I play and must abide by a 75+ foot rule just to make it fair....thats the only downside.

I got this for my UTG MK96 and i've probably put a good 500 rounds through with this upgrade kit. it's worth the money as it adds a good 50-100 feet of range to your gun if you use .40g BBs like i do

some tips/words of caution:
-dont leave your bolt cocked longer than necessary: will break the trigger box. find a new one here
-grease up the spring, piston, and O-ring as much as possible before assembly
-i dont know how to fix this yet, but the extra vibration rattle the frame and i heard foam can be used to dampen the noise: experiment with foam cushions
-might need a harder bucking as it wears them down pretty fast

pros: great if people will let you shoot at them with this thing installed
awesome boost in range

cons: wears down some parts of your gun
might need to get a weaker spring to use in a game
once you put it in, its pretty scary to take out
the description doesn't tell the strength of the spring, which REALLY annoys me

overall: great if you plan on making the UTG MK96 a beastly gun and you're willing to put some money into it

Great upgrade. Just remember to get an all metal triggerbox ($30) with this upgrade as well as some grease/oil for the piston head.
There is a Zero trigger which is very expensive, but the $30 one works fine...at least for now lol
Some will argue the PDI Hop-up upgrade so you can use 6.01 barrel, but after watching an accuracy test, this benifets are absolute crap, especially for spending nearly $400 on 2 part. So just get this UTG spring and piston kit, along with a metal trigger box and be done with it! You can always upgrade the spring even more down the road ;p
