My Universal Tactical Leg Holster,
This review is from: UTG Special Ops Universal Leg Holster (Sports)
My review is on my must recent purchase of UTG Special Ops Universal Tactical Leg Holster, Army Digital Camo, and I have to say that I am very happy with this purchase, one of the reasons that I decided to order this product is becuase I knew I was going back to IRAQ for a third time and I needed something that will be lighter and durable but the same time give the ability to withdraw my weapon fast at any given moment secure it and continue the fight, I think that this product is great and is a million times better than the Army issue to me, I will definitely recommend it to all Soldiers, all of my Soldiers in my Battalion already place an order for this great product. Thank you Amazon for making my third tour in IRAQ more comfortable, easy and exciting. God Bless. SSG Hector M. Majano.

5 Star leg hostler!,

I like this hostler, 1) Unlike others it does not unwrap when you run. 2) Camouflage colors and pattern match uniform well. I have digital woodland but I am sure other colors will match their camos also well. 3) Holds my G18C very well. 4) Very easy to attach it to belt without unfastening it. 5) can take out gun very fast!
so, 5 Stars.

I purchased this to complete my level 1 gear on a budget on a review from scootch00 on youtube. For that it works just fine but I for see some problems.
The belt hanger is too long and I can not shorten it any more. My sidearm hangs down to far and I feel that I have to lean over to draw. Also, the lower it hangs, the more force the holster and sidearm are subjected to when running/walking. Going to have to see what I can do about that. The leg strap seems ok but on the back of the holster, the leg strap attaches with a bit of elastic. I have to stretch this elastic pretty far to get the strap as tight as I like and this seems to be a failure point. Since the elastic is sewn into the leg strap, if the elastic breaks I would have to replace the entire leg strap. I would hate to lose it since it has some rubber like gripper material running the length of the strap that seems to preven teh holster from migrating forward as you move.

Good for the money,

I got this product for a Glock 19. It fits great. My only complaint (and I had read this before I purchased) is that the gun hangs away from the leg at an angle when standing. But it is a great deal otherwise. It is well constructed and easily adjustable. For the record a full size 1911 hangs out the bottom and looks goofy, but it does fit. I would say this would be a good holster for any compact auto for carrying a gun on your leg. It is not a good design for a speedy draw, and do to the way the gun hangs, not a good choice for tactical use. But for around $20, what do you expect? Great product for the money!

I bought this in hopes of a hand free easy switch. Well it is takes two hands now to get it out of the holster. I have a full size Beretta PX4 Storm in the .40 caliber and the front sight post is getting stuck on the bottom of the holster. It could get me killed. I would not buy this if you are going to use it for tactical reasons in a real theater of war. Or if you don't want to look stupid tugging away at the range with it.

This holster fits on the black UTG belt. It has a wide leg strap so that the holster won't ride-up when one draws the gun. It also serves to keep the holster in-place when the wearer runs. Also, there is a strap that holds the gun in-in place even if you're upside-down. This strap is easily undone with a thumb and a forefinger. The holster nests my Ruger P89 perfectly with an opening at the bottom.

I thought i was out of luck for finding a holster for my 24/7. Army surplus store, Cabelas, BassPro, nothing. Found this and thought for $15 what the heck. I wanted a tactical style holster anyway. My pistol fits snug and the spare clip pouch makes this even better. I'm only 5'11" and 150lbs so my legs are that big. I had to trim the leg strap about an inch. All i need now is a belt and i'll be set.
Leg strap has slip resistance strips on it to keep it from sliding around, a nice touch. Everything looks very well made. Stitching, snaps, velcro.

Not very adjustable, leg strap slides down a lot, my glock 23 drowns in it, swings a lot when i walk. only good thing is, its put together well strong stitching good quality materials, just poor design.

Relatively inexpensive for what you get. It is built very well. I wouldn't hesitate using this leg holster with complete confidence. This holster does offer a great degree of adjustability. The nylon looks to be of good quality. The holster also has a magazine pouch located fore of the pistol holder, and looks to hold one pistol magazine securely. A strap is used for securing a pistol in the holster, and it is adjustable, with two separate metal snaps. I am guessing the snaps allow for user preference for unholstering the pistol either with the snap or with the nylon snap buckle around the grip. Snaps also hold the leg cushion to the main horizontal strap for the leg buckle. I am guessing that once you find your comfortable thigh adjustment, then you snap the horizontal strap front and back to the leg cushion for a tight fit. Should you move for an extended time and your thigh swells from blood circulation, you can unsnap the cushion again for a better fit without re-adjustment. Incorporated with the horizontal main strap is a section of elastic to allow for expansion when moving and allowing a good fit. Behind the main horizontal strap are a loop for and aft of the holster. These can be used to clip on accessories and are reinforced behind the main horizontal strap. I can barely squeeze an index finger into these loops. The leg padding is firm and a non slip nylon mesh is used to prevent unwanted sliding on pants material. The leg cushionis encircled on its edge with a strong nylon edging, double sewn for durability, however, where one end of this hem meets the other, it is located right in front of the cushion. I see this may be a problem with durability. It isn't finished at these edges as good as the rest of the holster, and is not smoothed down. I plan on doing my best to overcome this with adding something over this seam end. The belt loop is used to support the weight of the pistol and magazine, and is nice and thick with a good quality nylon strap. It too is adjustable, and has a nylon buckle for removing the holster. The holster is held on firmly and redundantly with loads of velcro. I did notice a made in China label tucked up in there, but honestly, this is one very strong nylon holster. Only time will tell. Aside from the hem issue, the only other thing I noticed that I didn't care for is a rubber label sewn into the bottom edge of the holster that says "TAG airsoft". Is this an airsoft holster? You could have fooled me! |
