great, safe baby sunscreen,
By Heather "longmont mom" (Longmont, CO) - See all my reviews
This review is from: UV Natural - Baby Sunscreen SPF 30 (large 5.29 oz.) NEW FORMULA (Health and Beauty)
I first bought uv natural baby sunblock after seeing it rated as one of the safest and most effective baby sunblocks available by the environmental working group (ewg). EWG tested over 700 sunscreens, ranging from the common (eg. water babies) to some obscure brands, for effectiveness at blocking uv rays and degree of health safety/hazard. Though it is expensive, it is one of the only sunblocks I would feel confidant about using on my kids. Here are my observations about it:
* it is rather thick, but spreads easily due to the oils in it *it can 'whiten' skin due to the zinc oxide a liitle at first, but the whiteness decreases as it soaks in. *it doesn't have what many think of as a baby scent--it has no added fragrance, so it smells a bit like cooking oil

Best sunscreen for sensitive skin - not sticky or greasy,

I have EXTREMELY sensitive skin. I am allergic to every sunscreen I have ever tried. With that in mind, I wanted to find a sunscreen without parabens, propylene glycol, fragrance, and without any of the numerous ingredients I am allergic to - a previously impossible task, until UV Natural. This is a fantastic product! No allergic reaction. No skin irritation, or aggravation of my acne. Great sun protection. As it says in the instructions, a little bit goes a long way. Ignore all of the people who say it's sticky or greasy. They just used too much. If you follow the instructions and just use a little bit it is not greasy and only a very little bit sticky. Not the least bit sticky or greasy compared to any of the other sunscreens I have tried. This is the best sunscreen I have ever tried.

I love the UV Natural brand--all natural and non-toxic ingredients. This formula is very creamy, so the website says to apply a smaller amount than you would regular lotion sunscreen. I love it because it feels like moisturizer, does not smell offensive, and works very well. I also like that the main ingredient is zinc and not titanium.
The price is expensive, but perhaps if you search the internet you can find it cheaper. I also found a small amount of the cream went a long way, so I used less and it lasted longer than regular sunscreen.

Very pleased with this sunscreen,

After doing some extensive research last summer for a paraben-free, physical block sunscreen, I decided to try UV-Natural. I chose it for its natural ingredients and because it uses zinc oxide. It works great! It does feel a bit greasy at first, but a little goes a long way. One tube lasted most of the summer for myself and two children - faces, arms & legs. An added bonus is that it does NOT sting if it gets into eyes. I like that it is pretty much scentless. Some other natural sunscreens that I have tried have too much of an earthy smell for me. Highly recommend this product.

safe and works,
This review is from: UV Natural - Baby Sunscreen SPF 30 (large 5.29 oz.) NEW FORMULA (Health and Beauty)
We're extremely fair skinned and have been using this for 3 years now. It works great! My toddler has been in the sun for hours running through sprinklers with no shirt on wearing this shirt and not gotten even a tint of color to him from the sun. I'm told often he's the whitest toddler people have ever seen, and we are in the sun nearly every day. It is also safe for a young baby, I started using it on his new brother at about 3 months of age since there are no chemicals in it. It works great! The only reason I give it 4 stars? It's greasy and smells like cooking oil, but I can deal with that any day compared to the alternative (chemicals that cause us to break out in a nice rash!)

Extremely greasy; definitely NOT a sports block,
This review is from: UV Natural - Baby Sunscreen SPF 30 (large 5.29 oz.) NEW FORMULA (Health and Beauty)
UV Natural sunblock is by far the greasiest thing I have ever put on my skin. I've tried it twice -- once for just walking around town, and yesterday on a 3-hour bike ride. Both times, the product did not absorb at all, and left my skin looking almost dripping with oil. If you like that fresh-oiled look, you'll love this stuff. But if you want something that will at least somewhat mattify, then run, don't walk, away from these products. Also, these are definitely *not* sports-proof. On a hot-day ride, the UV Natural had developed sweat streaks and bare patches after an hour of biking. But, the areas where it did manage to stay put were protected from sunburn. I'd recommend this stuff only for a sedentary day at the beach, if you can re-apply it frequently, and only if you like to glisten.

Doesn't actually block the sun; extremely greasy. Huge Ripoff,
By Rockwell Shah (Irvine, CA) - See all my reviews

As a tennis player I train 3-5 hours a day in the sun; so I don't mind investing money into a good sunblock. But this stuff is absolutely worthless (read on for why).
Because I am naturally tan, it takes quite a bit of sun exposure for me to actually burn, so for the first week and a half of using the stuff I didn't notice any problems, until sun spots starting showing up on my face. For the life of me I couldn't figure out why; I tried putting more on, less on... nothing worked. Finally one day my best friend (who is fair skinned) came onto court with me to train. He applied the sunblock before coming onto court and was in the sun for about an hour. That night he was completely beet red. Burned to a crisp. And then it hit me: this stuff doesn't actually do anything. I switched over to a generic (I think kroger) "spf 50+ very very sweat resistant sunblock", and the sun spots have gone away. Bottom line: THIS IS A HUGE RIPOFF!

I did a lot of research before choosing to use UV Natural on my twins. I chose it in part because of its rating with the Environmental Working Group and also because of the fact that it is made with zinc oxide rather than titanium dioxide - which on a micronized level appears to be safer.
The only con for this sunblock is that it is greasy, although at the same time it makes a little go a long way - which is a pretty big plus since sunblock tends to be costly.

I read the reviews on this product and thought I finally found a great natural sunblock for myself and little ones. I ordered it for our 3 day mini vacation at the lake.
However, I was very very disappointed when it felt very greasy and oily the whole day. It didn't seem to absorb into our skin. I tried using less the next time, but it was still slimy. All of us felt like we were covered in grease all day. Myself and 7 year old daughter didn't burn, but we both got tan. I didn't want a tan and like being fair, so I was very upset about that. I applied it once an hour the whole day and after swimming. For some reason my little ones (3 and 1) stayed fair and didn't tan or burn, but they were in the shade more often. Also, my purple bathing suit has bleach type marks where I got sunblock on it. Also my sun dresses that I wore during the trip got bleach type marks on the where the sunblock touched. It is impossible not to get sunblock on your clothing at the edges. So now I have several ruined outfits. It smells like cooking oil too. I wouldn't recommend it at all. I didn't burn, but got tan which is still sun damage. My clothing is ruined and it smells.

I wanted an all natural sunscreen. This is so think you cannot even spread it. It was very difficult to get on myself, let alone my one year old son. We didn't get any sun that day, but it was like wearing a mask. I also prefer sunblock with a nicer smell.
