I saw this on the show the Doctors. I was a microbiologist for 20++yrs and we did use UV lights In out TB/Fungus room overnight to kill the bugs that may be on the counters. So I know the science of this product is true. The unit does turn on but as we cannot see what it does it is a matter of science and trust. I'm using it for things that are not easily washed. Nothing beats washing ones hands often. I like the compact size of the unit It is like a cell phone.

I just got this yesterday and the main reason was because it looked like you could tilt it a bit more than some of the other lights that have to be used at 180 degress only.Indeed, I can tilt it to about 45 degrees. HOwever, that's about the only good thing so far. Issues I have with this product- 1) upon reading directions, this $40 light is disposable. Once the light bulb goes....it's trash and in fact, it's toxic trash because it's got Mercury. So you have to dispose of it properly. 2) when my husband opened it, he was extremely upset with me for picking this design because it looks like a cell phone-- 2 little kids 3 yrs and 15 months who both have lots of play phones as well and LOVE phones. SO, he's extremely worried I will accidently leave it out. I can't blame him and in fact, I'm concerned about this design too. There is no safety lock or anything. 3) this is very touchy. Yes, you can tilt it to a 45 degree angle, but it goes out on me even fully horizontal. It feels very cheap. They say the "rattling" is normal, but the rattling makes me think it's going to go out on me and not having a replacement bulb doesn't make me happy. The way it randomly goes out (before the 3 min limit makes me think something is faulty). 4) tiny area means it take forever to go over something like a bed. 5) very thick-- this might be portable but it's extremely thick and because it rattles so much, I"m afraid to take it anywhere. In addition, the cell phone thing makes me worry my kids will find it in my purse (way too thick for a pocket) and play with it. I believe in UV light as a sanitizer, but this product is a disappointment. I'm hoping Amazon will be happy to return it and let me upgrade.

I got this NOT for sanitizing but for exposing flourescent rocks to high frequency UV light to see the color change. I have no idea if it kills germs, but it does work (one reveiwer said he couldn't tell if it was coming on because UV was invisible, but you can see "black light" and can tell if it's working or not).Needs a convenient carrying case.
