The product was delivered within a day but it only worked for about 1 hour. I contacted the seller to exchange the product but she said she didn't accept any exchanges or returns, which violates her contract with Amazon. A seller must except returns up to 30 days. The seller went to Kohl's department store, bought the item, probably on sale and then resold it on Amazon. She was not helpful at all in fact rather indignant. Not a reputable seller, would recommend avoiding her at all costs. Amazon customer service was extremely helpful and settled the matter to my satisfaction.

3.0 out of 5 stars Works reasonably well, April 8, 2009

The light is a bit underpowered, but it seems to work fine in our bathroom. You need to pass over items slowly, so expect to take about 30-mins to adequately cover the key areas in a small bathroom where mold and mildew are likely to appear.

4.0 out of 5 stars Handy Portable Sanitizer Wand - Recommended, March 8, 2010

This UVC Sanitizer Light wand is a convenient little travel sized gadget useful for killing germs, viruses, and molds (fungi) without using chemicals. My immune system is compromised due to chemotherapy and diabetes, so I like to sterilize hotel room bathrooms and other areas that other people might have used (phones, pens, etc). This device uses Ultra Violet light to kill the nasty things, so no harsh chemicals are needed.

The well written instructions are easy to follow and the unit performed flawlessly after inserting 4 "AA" batteries. This device can be used on flat surfaces like counters and even on walls (held at a slight angle). The unit does have a safety feature that prevents it (or at least makes it difficult) to accidentally shine the harmful UV light into your eyes. The light will shut off if it is rotated upwards but it is still possible to shine it at others, so caution should be used around children and pets.

The light is not as bright as I expected, but it looks like it is "enough". My kids are planning doing a Science Fair project using this unit to test the effects of different light frequencies on certain bacteria, so if it doesn't work conclusively to kill the germs I will update this review.

Recommended!

Product did not come with readable instructions...Instructions were limited to small sheet of paper that looked copied/blurred...No specific product instruction handbook...Product can only be used horizontal which makes doorknobs/other cleaning impossible...Only for flat surfaces

Advertised to effectively kill pathogens on surfaces in 5 seconds. The instructions that come with device advise 30 seconds exposure is necessary. Area covered in a 30 second exposure: about 4 square inches. Intensity of UV light is extremely low, so while it might actually emit light in the proper wavelength to disinfect surfaces, it is completely impractical for use on anything other than, perhaps, a small switch, maybe a television remote (if you have a two or three minutes of spare time to illuminate the remote), or something of similar, small size. A great indicator of the output strength of this UV light can easily be determined by exposing a fluorescent mineral, like calcite, to the light. Weak output makes its intended use impractical. Combined with the fact that there is also no way to determine if you have exposed the surface you wish to disinfect to an actual killing dose of UV light, this product is simply an ineffective toy...or worse, if you actually think you can safely handle objects treated with it. As an effective means to protect yourself from surface pathogens while travelling, this device fails, miserably.

1.0 out of 5 stars Cleanselight - Junk, February 19, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: UVC Sanitizer Light, Travel Model (Kitchen)
I purchased this light to use around the house in the kitchen and bathrooms. It worked for about 10 minutes (not continuous)and then the lamp would not turn on. The leds come on indicating that it's getting power but the lamp doesn't light. It's also pretty flimsy and the battery door keeps falling off. It's marketed as the Cleanselight even though the Amazon ad doesn't list it as that. I looked at the sellers return info (on Amazon) and it says that I only have 7 days to return it for manufacturers defect and it's a couple of days past that now. The sellers info says to contact the manufacturer to honor the warranty. There is a printed insert that came in the box that says it has a 30 day warranty but there is no address or manufacturer listed. The outside of the box has a sticker that has a distributor name with a web address that doesn't go anywhere. The sticker had a zip code for New York City but a check of the Better Business Bureau comes up empty. A quick search on the web doesn't show the company either. I sent the seller an email listing my concerns so we'll see what they will do or if they respond. My recommendation is avoid this product. It's junk.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not a reliable product, January 4, 2011
This review is from: UVC Sanitizer Light, Travel Model (Kitchen)
I have used this wand a handful of times, and it no longer will turn on. But I'm outside my 1 month return window, so I can salvage the batteries and use it as a paper weight. Also, the safety feature can be annoying because if you rotate the wand slightly, it will suddenly turn off.

As other reviewers have pointed out, you have to pass the wand very SLOWLY over a surface. You can't just wave it back and forth and expect it to work.

Would not recommend this at all.

I've used this several times with the hope and prayer that it's doing what it's supposed to do. It worked well for awhile, but gave out sooner than I expected it too. I suppose it needs a new bulb, that'll be my next purchase.

This works very well. As it is smaller, it is best used for smaller items, otherwise you spend a lot of time moving it around.

I have this same model and really like it. It is very portable and easy to use.

I purchased this item for a gift. I'm sure the person receiving it will enjoy the satisfaction of using it.
