Product Description

Unlike glow-in-the-dark stars that needed direct sunlight or black lights to charge, our UVPaqlite charges quickly by absorbing the light from any light source: sunlight, flourescent, halogen, LEDS, etc. Once charged these lights will provide enough light to function in a shelter, tent, or bedroom without using electricity or fuel all night long. And as long as the sun rises tomorrow, you can reuse it over-and-over again...FOREVER!!! Tooblite glow-sticks are used for many purposes. They are waterproof, do not use batteries, generate no heat, and are non-toxic. They can tolerate high pressures, such as those found underwater. They are used as light sources and light markers by military forces, campers, and recreational divers doing night diving. Glow sticks are considered the only kind of light source that is ideal safe for use immediately following an earthquake, hurricane, tornado, or other catastrophic emergency situation due to the fact that they do not use any kind of electricity to work and do not create any danger of sparking. They can also be used in night-time fishing as a lure.

Compared to the UVPaqlite packets - which are fairly rugged in their own right - this seems much more durable, as well as convenient to carry or mount.

These don't give off anywhere near the light that a light stick does.

I recently bought several UVPaqlite items, and have had some time to test them out. Out of the 4 items I purchased, this was reasonably impressive. With fair exposure to light, it will glow strong for 10 minutes. Around the 15 minute mark, it has faded a bit, but is still bright enough that you can still read with it in total darkness, with adjusted eyes. By 60 minutes, it's faintly visible in a dark room, with your eyes adjusted. Even by 90 minutes, it's still faintly visible, but only just barely.

Out of the 4 UVPaqlite items I purchased, this didn't glow as strong or last as long as the UVPaqlite packets - however, that seemed natural, given its tubular design (less surface area exposed to the viewer). The clear resin had a lot of bubbles, which seemed to diffuse the glow a bit - making for a more even light, but also limiting its range. However, the tubular design is also its biggest strength. Compared to the UVPaqlite packets - which are fairly rugged in their own right - this seems much more durable, as well as convenient to carry or mount. As such, I mounted this next to my quick-release home shotgun mount. In the event the lights immediately go out, I can quickly - even before my eyes have adjusted - find my flashlight and unlock the shotgun, should I need it.

If you need stronger and longer lasting light, I recommend the UVPaqlite vacuum-sealed packets. Both the UVPaqlite Medium and UVPaqlite Mini out-performed the Tooblites I bought, as far as effective brightness. However, consider that the Tooblite shape is more convenient for certain tasks.

i bought all of the sizes except the large keychain size-- based on one review, from a place called wiggies [online.] the reviewer talked about playing cards using a small size, so that was my reference as to how much light they provided. this would have been impossible unless they had florescent cards.

for me, they have only been good for ambient light. ...they would be used like a florescant piece of tape to keep you from bumping into something. and as another reviewer said, they are strong for just a few minutes. after awhile, when i tried in a closet, there was only enough to just barely see forms of things, not anything clearly. and in reference to the company's ad--- i havent figured out how they would work in a cave unless a flashlight is recharging them. i would think that a backpacker might be able to find a use for them, as they are so light.

as for using them in your house, remember that you have to move them to a light source, then move again to the dark to be useful. i hoped that they would light up my outdoor keysafe so i could enter my combination, but the light is so dim that they werent strong enough. i am not quite ready to send them back since they would be better than nothing in a power outage. that seems to be a good use for them for people that are not campers. but just to keep you from running into something.

actually, just now, i did think of a great use. clip one onto the dog collar, when you let him out, so he glows for a few minutes--- if you have to chase him down. the large size sewed onto a dog halter/sweater would be the easiest to see, of course. it is somewhat stiff tho.

i bought some for gifts, and probably wont give them away, as no one would believe that the large size costs about $20--dont look expensive.

Ok, First off if you are looking to this to be bright like a flashlight then Do not buy this. the fact that it doesn't need electricity and is reusable and waterproof is a nice thing. it will charge from any light source (artificial or natural). it will give off just enough light to keep from bumping into a wall but not much past that still not a bad thing to have.

Similar to glow sticks, but reusable. Perfect for comforting kids at night or in a power outage. I wish I had had these when my kids were little and we went camping, they would have loved them.

These don't give off anywhere near the light that a light stick does. It is just a very soft glow. I bought several different types and none of them lasted the night.

I charged the light under a bright 60 watt light for two hours, the result was that the output from the Tooblite was very disappointing. Very dim light that could not be used for any activity except to find the Tooblite in a dark room. Even this amount of light faded rapidly and after one hour, the Tooblite could not be found in a dark room. I had expected that the Tooblite would be at least as good as a Cyalume SnapLight Industrial Grade Chemical Light Stick, but it was not. Save your money and buy a Bic Lighter and Candle.

Does it glow... yes, but for the money, there is hardly enough glow material placed in the tube to make it worth the price or worth carrying on a camping trip for that matter. The tube I received has a cluster of glow material at one end about 3/4 in but the rest of the tube had barely enough to mention much less put out any light unless you held the tube right on top of what you were trying to read.
