Customer Reviews

The tooling is fine, the pen writes smoothly.

It's actually very handy and ergonomic as the cap protrudes from the pocket when clipped, and with a quick twist, you can have a cuff key in hand.

The pen tip doesn't retract, instead you have to partially unscrew the barrel of the pen partway until the pen tip is covered.

This pen is rugged and well built and would deserve 5 stars except for a flaw in the design. The pen tip doesn't retract, instead you have to partially unscrew the barrel of the pen partway until the pen tip is covered. In practice, however, very often the barrel will completely unscrew in my pocket leading to an inky mess and missing spring. There is a rubber "o" ring that's supposed to keep the barrel from unscrewing on its own, but it isn't sufficient. Perhaps a bigger one could be located at a hardware store that would solve the problem. As it is, great pen but epic fail on function. Would not recommend.

I literally have a box of these types of innocent and useful pens, styluses, lock needles, tent pegs, rulers, solid body flashlights, padlocks, carabiners, tools less than 5" in length, and flat cards that are (currently still) approved for airline travel.

I am not some scofflaw or troublemaker, but in fact the exact opposite. I am as Jay Mohr so aptly stated an "air marshal". I have no special authority, no badge, no sidearm. But what I do have is my trusty solid metal pen (and some Kevlar aramid gauntlets) and the willingness to assist the air crew in the event of an emergency. All 200 passengers should be "air marshals" in this day and age. I am also not and have no particular desire to be a hero or patriot. I merely want to be a humble traveler and survivor who would dearly love to have my plane land safely.

This pen is, exactly as stated, a solid all metal body writing instrument. It is nicely, circumferentially knurled to provide a positive grip along it's long access. At either end, it has a nice point. Although I have not tested it yet, it purports to have a "glass breaker" tip on the butt end, possibly tungsten-carbide. The metal is richly anodized matte black, and the pocket clip is also very solidly built (10 gauge at least) and firmly attached (as it screws into the cap).

As advertised, there is a removable standard hand cuff key that screws into the cap assembly. It's actually very handy and ergonomic as the cap protrudes from the pocket when clipped, and with a quick twist, you can have a cuff key in hand. This is no cheapie key either. It too is anodized and can be unscrewed from the cap to access the double lock pin.

Decent pen, but I have 2 problems with it. 1. The pen clip is resting on the rough abrasive part of the pen which mean when you attach the pen to a shirt or pants pocket after a while it will wear down or even rip your fabric/clothing wherever you store it on you. The clip is extremely tight as well. 2. The cuff key inside the back end of the pen becomes loose and rattles with any type of movement, I have to unscrew the back end of the pen a couple times a day just to tighten/re-screw the cuff key back into the pen tip, annoying.

I bought this because I wanted a glass breaker tool that I could carry on my person on duty as a police officer. Less than a week after i received it I responded to a vehicle slide off when myself and another officer got to the car we saw the driver was unconscious the doors were locked and the vehicle was running my partner asked to go back to his vehicle to get a glass breaker hammer instead I was able to hand him this tool break the passenger window unlock the vehicle and assist the driver. The second time I used this tool was an auto wreck where the driver was unconcious and injured again this tool broke the window and I was able to gain access to the vehicle. The third time I used this tool was the end of a high speed pursuit where the suspects door where locked I was able to break the glass with this tool and gain access to the driver. In contrast the officer of the passenger side was striking the window full force multiple times with the muzzle of an AR rifle to no effect. I highly recommend this tool to police officers as something they can carry on them and not have to try and improvise a way to enter a vehicle. As far as the pen is concerned it doesn't work very well with the original cartridge but it works in a pinch if that's the only pen you have. I have had zero issues with leakage or breakage carrying this pen day in day out for months clipped to a cargo pocket.

I recently decided to purchase a tactical pen for the durability as I work in construction i found two that I liked this is a list of pros and cons for both pens.

UZI tactical pen with glass breaker and handcuff key

Pro - very solidly built at 50 grams its got a nice heft
Pro - emergency handcuff key stored in glass breaker
Pro - pretty solid feeling glass breaker tip
Pro- very nice grip
Pro- extremely solid pocket clip
Con- when closing pen its possible to sesperate the upper and bottom halves, and it feels like it should have been built opposite of how it is?
Con - glass breaker tip unscrews and seems like it would work its way loose over time as mine was a little loose when I got it although it was easily tightened

Overall great tactical pen that writes as good as it looks

TAKEDOWN tactical pen w glass breaker led light and DNA catcher

Pro - as solidly built and weighing in at the same 50 grams as the Uzi
Pro - led light in DNA catcher crown is fairly bright and so far I've had none of the issues others report with the light not shutting off
Pro- removable cap that clicks onto other side when your ready to write with it
Pro - sharp DNA catcher definetly remove some of an attackers blood and skin

Con - that DNA catcher can be a double edged sword mind you don't get your DNA on it lol
Con- pocket clip leaves a lot to be desired for sturdiness screws on and the screw have a way of working loose from similar clips I've had
Con - non replaceable glass breaker

Overall it writes and functions very well but at the end of the day I think the Uzi is going to be my regular pen it just feels like its built a lot better for carrying around in ones pocket with out ripping up knuckles and pockets.
