thank you so much...FINALLY!,
This review is from: Uaioe (Audio CD)
i would say that these albums are a much needed breath of life into the rotting corpse of classic, lost, and forgotten KMFDM awesomeness....everything is better about the new metropolis records releases than the wax trax/tvt releases. first, they are a TON cheaper, not to mention easier to find...you can buy a brand new one for less than you would spend on those used things...second, the sound is mega improved over the old ones...so now you can actually mix these UAIOE, DBYT, and WDYKD tracks in playlists with Attak, WWIII, and Hau Ruck without being frustrated at the scratchieness and volume differences...and finally, the packaging is much more attractive and informative....you get a nice little story about the album, some nice photos of the band, and lyrics finally!...and this album, UAIOE, informed me that the Jamaican band member Morgan Adjei, had died....sad, since i loved his voice and contribution to this amazing album and i know why this lineup was never present again.if i was forced by gun to choose a flaw with the reissues, i may say the lack of bonus b-sides and remixes, but thats way too petty to detract from these stellar reissues. so i say, throw out your old shoddy copies and get this...support the band and learn a fact or two about the album....cant wait for the rest!

Excellent Songs all the way through. If only it were longer.,

This is one of my favorite KMFDM albums. The style of several songs is different than latter albums. 'Murder' and 'Loving can be an Art' both come to mind as having a vocals by a member not now in the band. Throughout the album you can find themes that have been used in later albums, such as: Rip the System. My only complaint is that the run time is less than 40 minutes. Other than that, the album rocks!! One of those albums that you listen to all the way through without hitting the skip button on the CD player.

industrial reggae is always a refreshing and awesome sound,

i must say that out of all kmfdm's albums i have heard that this is the most danceable. well, along with money and naive(hell to go) of course..still need to hear the original naive. hehe. anyways, this album starts out very strong. stronger than i thought it would for people always bad mouthing pre-angst kmfdm. i wish they would have done another album with this line-up. the reggae influences are very amazing! also, the sound is great for being such an old un-remastered album. the price is worth it, but not too expensive...id gladly buy this for 50 dollars or less. anyways, the beats in this will have you rocking your head and tapping your feet.by the way, this album may have the best front cover of all kmfdm's albums. loving can be an art indeed!

A forgotten classic,

Much angrier and more active than the follow up, "Naive", and more consistently interesting than the preceding "Don't Blow Your Top" or "What Do You Know Deutschland", "UAIOE" is unique in KMFDM's catelogue for several reasons. The politically rebellious personality the band is known for began here. The commonly used slogans "Rip the system!" and "More and faster!" had their genesis. For the first time Sascha began to distort his voice on a regular basis, something common in all their 90's albums. Jamaican Morgan Adjei appears on this album and this album only. His blissful stream of consciousness rambling add a unique reggae flavor to the mix and provide contrast to Sascha's usual nihilist anthems. "UAIOE" isn't a very melodic or guitar heavy album. The band had yet to add a significant amount of female vocals, and the little guitar work that is present is bland, simple, uninspired, and plays nothing but a supporting role. The most important thing here is rhythm. Like "Naive", it's heavily dance oriented. The beats are constantly shifting and complex. The synthesizer work remains in the vein of earlier albums. There are a lot of horn synth patches (nowhere to be found on "Naive"). The songs themselves are a lot more reminiscient of their later work than on the preceding two albums. There are no more rambling instrumental pieces, there are more distinct sections to each song. My biggest complaint about the album is its length (only about half an hour) and the fact that a whole track (out of 9 total) is spent on an alternate version of "Rip the System" called "Ganja Rock" with the only difference being increased length and vocals by Adjei instead of the original Sascha chant ("Black man, white man..."). My favorites are "UAIOE", "Murder" and "En Esch". This is a good buy if you've already got the essentials "Nihil", "Naive" and "Symbols" and maybe a couple others like "Angst" or "XTORT".

A KMFDM Classic,
By
This review is from: Uaioe (Audio CD)
This is a great time to be a KMFDM fan. Not only are they releasing awesome new music in the form of Hau Ruck and the Ruck Zuck EP, they are releasing remastered versions of their classic back catalog. One thing I always disliked about old KMFDM was the sound level on their discs was always so long. Not anymore! Everything about this package is great. Old and new fans alike owe it to themselves to pick this up.

Even as a big fan of KMFDM, even I'll accept that they can be hit or miss. UAIOE is certainly what could be called an awkward transition album, but that gives it a special charm.

It had to grow on me...,

The first few times I heard this disc, I wasn't quite sure what to think. "KMFDM goes reggae??" But after listening to it more, I've really come to appreciate it a lot more. "UAIOE" is probably one of my favorite songs on the disc, followed closely by "Thumb Thumb." Kind of a transition from the "old" sound and the "new" sound, it's got a sound all its own. 4 out of 5.

I bought this immediately after i bought RETRO(a great intro CD btw). The best tracks are like you'd expect, Murder, Rip The System and More & Faster. The rest is okay, but strictly guitar rock and not really too dancable. Nonetheless, this is one of a few defining KMFDM CDs, and a classic in a way.
