3.0 out of 5 stars It's fun to play, ignore the storyline
I had no problems playing (3.0Ghz,1.5Gigs mem,Radeon9600). The story is bad! Real bad! The actors were reading a script and it showed. No german soldier speaks with a german accent. They obviously put this game out in a hurry. Models and shadows are pretty nice. At first I thought they were using the HalfLife physics engine. It felt similar. But if so, they didn't come...

But if so, they didn't come close to taking full advantage of it. The energy shield is useful but not entirely needed. One could get through the game without using it at all. Parts are really tough, shooting planes down and shooting some germans (ubersoldiers) far away in the nighttime darkness. One annoying thing about it was that the AI would start shooting before you even came around the corner in some spots. This kind of forced you to use the shield. It is very linear, but aren't they all.

Bottomline: Fun to play if your like FPS, you'll finish it pretty quick. Storyline is horrible! But if your into re-animated soldiers from the dead falling in love this is the one for you. That was soooo stupid!

1.0 out of 5 stars What were the game developers thinking?, April 27, 2006

I have purchased & played many games over the years, and have had some problems installing or playing some of them. Usually, if there are problems the developer supplies 'patches' or 'fixes' but I guess there are exceptions. I have a PC that exceeds all the requirements needed to play this game but the game barely starts and freezes. I have all the latest device drivers and have uninstalled & re-installed the game multiple times, and have tweaked everything, but still it freezes. Many individuals are complaining on the web but the developers are ignoring us. Once software is opened it can only be exchanged, so we who are disappointed & feel ripped off have no recourse. Game developers such as this should be helping but they are not, nor do they seem to care. We who buy games will remember this, and will tell others. What are you developers thinking? Did you even test your product on multiple formats before marketing it? Such a good idea with good potential for an EXTREMELY poor product. AVOID THIS PRODUCT AS YOU WILL BE VERY DISAPPOINTED & RIPPED OFF!

2.0 out of 5 stars Some polish would be nice, May 11, 2006
= Fun:2.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: UberSoldier (CD-ROM)
The gameplay was acceptable but that's where the positives end. The voice acting is the worst I have seen since the first games with voice overlay. It's odd that all the nazis seem to have some strange southern accent and don't at all seem interested in conveying any emotion. Character voice talent is flat and makes continuing the game very painful, mostly because you feel bad for the developer for putting out such a poorly polished product. Was there a storyline, I'm not quite sure but the characters sure didn't seem to care. They must have asked the janitors in the building to perform the voiceovers because they don't seem very interested in what they are saying. Loading times are excessive even on performance rigs and is somewhat crash prone. Just wait for something good to come out or replay something you already own.

1.0 out of 5 stars Poor game sound keeps going out., April 1, 2006

I was not impressed with the game. The sound kept going out. Had to restart to get back worked for a while then went out again. Then I decided to take it off my computer. My advice is to look for a better game.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not Playable As Is, April 7, 2006

At the begining of the game the game begins to run in slow motion and you soon realize that this is not how it is suppose to go. Obviously there is a huge glitch at the start. Once they issue a patch for the problem, the game may be playable and a realistic review could be written. I have waited for this game for some time and am very dissapointed I cannot play it as it is.

3.0 out of 5 stars Its kinda like 3 1/2 stars actually.... Not the worst, but a competent shooter, December 8, 2006
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: UberSoldier (CD-ROM)
This poor maligned game. The folks who built it had some kind of a vision alright, but they could have used a decent pair of glasses to get there. Actually, they could have used a scriptwriter and a decent director. The voice over work is the least of the problems IMHO... Its what they're saying thats pretty bad, not really how they're saying it. I was expecting a train wreck, but it was cheap so I bought it anyway. And I was pleasantly surprised at how much fun it is.

As far as I can tell though, there's simply no real story, other than killing Nazis, which is always a noble pursuit. But in actuality, I can never tell exactly what I'm really doing.

On the pro side, the game has really nice dynamics, excellent scenery and the graphics are definitely competent, including the enemy AI and the animated characters. The cut scenes are decent, although I still have no idea what they are talking about. The weapons are competent, aiming is good, action is good, and health, ammo and reloads are fine. Gameplay is actually kind of nice, even though you never really know what you're supposed to be doing.

The designers of the game dynamics and mechanics knew what they were trying to accomplish. There are many of the fine gameplay attributes of games like Half Life 2 and Painkiller are in UberSoldier. Fortunately, there is not alot of stupid jumping (argh... this made Painkiller extraordinarily frustrating).

There are certainly elements of Brothers in Arms and Call of Duty in here for sure too. I guess one might say UberSoldier is a derivative work, or a blatant copy as many have pointed out. The energy shield is actually quite novel though, but besides that, there's not that much new here.

All in all, its a good, solid, competent FPS romp. If the people who built it had some decent creative talent and leadership on the story side, I'm sure they could actually build some nice games. And yes, the voice acting is truly bizarre. You actually cannot use it to figure out who is good or bad. Only Pariah is as bad (it might be even worse actually). Its a great bargain bin game.

I bought and installed this game only to never get to play it. I was lookin forward to this game for awhile and its a huge glitch. To start off with it takes three dayz to load and second it won't make it 5 secs in the game without freezing and having to task manger out ofit. I uninstalled and don't reccommend anyone to waste their money on this crap.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Bargain Game ..., January 8, 2011
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars

I am currently playing this game (several hours into it) and I must say that this is a really nice bargain priced game. Lots of challenges, descent graphics and physics, gamplay is smooth, and it is performing very well on my 6-year old Pentium 4 XP computer.

Install was easy and I used a no-cd patch so that I can play my game without having the disc in all the time. There were a couple glitches upon saving a game at first, but all seems fine now.

You can save whenever you want, making some of the more challenging missions easier to fininsh. So far I am having a great time with this game ... so much so, that I also purchased Ubersoldier 2, which is loads of fun, too. You can't go too wrong with this fun bargain priced game ... recommended.

1.0 out of 5 stars Fun at times but overall not worth the buy, October 23, 2006
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: UberSoldier (CD-ROM)
Ok graphically the game is sharp and the sounds in the game are pretty realistic and the gameplay itself is pretty good. Now the horrible downs to the game 1st the plot and storyline are shady at best and copy somewhat off of Wolfenstein secondly the voice acting is HORRIBLY CRAP! Also beyond the FPS there is nothing cool to add to the game the "powers" you get are mostly pointless and really dont add much to the game overall. If your rich and looking for a quick fix this is your game, if strapped on cash and looking for an actual good FPS then look somewhere else. Gampleay can be fun but gets repetative overall this is basically a stripped down FPS that you and I have both played before. Spend your money on somp else.
