I feel excited to have just learned about such a respectable group of people - truly exemplary citizens of the world. Uberpreneurs are entrepreneurs who have achieved at driving global change beyond economic goals but in the social and environmental realms as well. This holistic look at progress is what we need to protect the future, and hopefully by recognizing, supporting, and honoring these 36 individuals, more will follow.

This book is the product of Queensland, Australia's chief scientist Peter Andrews and science & innovation policy analyst Fiona Wood. In the uberpreneur profiles, they found a set of common characteristics for people with very diverse backgrounds in the fields of 1) Big Business 2) High Tech 3) Happy People 4) Better World. In some ways, this book reminds me of Michael Jeffreys' approach to Success Secrets of the Motivational Superstars, which is a book surely to inspire you to pursue work that makes the world a better place while also being profitable.

A great example of being "focused and confident" is found in Sir Richard Branson of Virgin companies who says: "My interest in life comes from setting myself huge, apparently unachievable challenges and trying to rise above them. . . . I have always lived my life by making lists. . . . Each day I work through these lists, and that sequence of calls propels me forward." This guys has set in motion the first commercial galactic travel system, people! Wow.

The authors conclude their look at current uberpreneurs by discussing how we can perpetuate more like them: teach aspiring entrepreneurs the facts, help their networks build, provide resources, and give them space to do their thing!

First, the cover design and title are brilliant, so attractive I felt.
"Ueberpreneur"-has a nice ring.
I think "ueber" comes from German, never a truer word was existed.

I've looked over the contents.
Am particularly interested in Jeroo Billimoria, Shai Agassi and Soraya Salti.
I found the book accessible for non-academic person like me.
It's really balanced- multidiscipline, comprehensive, well racially-mixed, gender-friendly
Hard-to-find book, I thought.

A vibrant yet succinct review of innovators who have as their primary objective "making the world a better place for all at minimal cost". It is interesting to see how common elements in the upbringing and education of children may have had a profound influence on their contribution to society in so many diverse and powerful ways. The summary review at the end of each chapter provides a novel survey of those essential ingredients in each contributor which have led to their success, as would be expected from the authors who are pre-eminent in their fields of research and administration. The book provides a light but insightful appraisal of modern day creativity and poses an inspiration for us all to participate in the act of giving. The quality of research which was given to this publication is apparent through the bibliography provided in each chapter. It is an impressive inquiry.
Were there questions left unanswered? I suspect that these will linger awhile.
