I agree with the previous reviewer. The instructions are not easy at all to follow. The color in the instructions don't match the colors of the actual pieces. Also they have one picture for about 10 steps. It makes it very difficult and time consuming to follow.
I would not recommend this for anyone under 12 years old, and in fact I would not recommend this for anyone. I helped my son, but I didn't have much fun. When we finally did get the catapult put together, it was pathetic. It shot a cog about 3 feet. It is possible that I didn't put it together correctly, but with the sad state of the instructions, I will never know. The pieces seemed durable enough, though a few did suffer from stress fatigue, and it would seem likely that they would not last more than a few times of setting up the catapult. This is a toy that seemed to have a lot of potential, but in the end was not worth the money. Lego kits are more fun even if they cost more. For the time you have to put into it for the result you get this is definitely not worth your money or time.

harder than we thought,

As cool as this toy is meant to be, the assembly instructions are not clear enough. The instructions group too many pieces together rather than the simple, step-by-step building instructions I am used to from Lego or Playmobil. My 9 year old nephew and I together had a tough time figuring it out, especially because the colors of the pieces vary from kit to kit so it was hard to know if we were using the right pieces. He had more fun constructing his own gadgets because he got frustrated trying to figure out the instructions to build the catapult.

Child loves science and engineering, has made many catapults, siege towers, etc. This is cheap and doesn't work well. She built it, revamped it, won't touch it. Giving to charity or school. What a waste!
