2.0 out of 5 stars Why do I get ads in the last update? August 7, 2013
Verified Purchase
Having beaten Rayman Origins I bought this game the week it came out. I love the game... but this latest update added these strange ads. I paid for the app. I should not have to suffer through ads.

Paid for this app but recent updates added adverts. Sorry, love the game but once a company pulls this, I am done. They are never to be trusted again.

You pay $3 for what? Advertisements, Push, and only part of a game in which you have to shell out even MORE money to get the whole game you already paid for.

Not surprising, since this is an UBISOFT game.

Note that you MUST be connected to the internet to FINISH installing the game (and who-knows-what information the app is sending to the developer's servers). Amazon shows a 6MB download, but it is nearly 100MB for the game; UBISOFT misrepresents the true size of this app due to the necessity of having to download the rest of it. Hope you don't have a restrictive or expensive data plan!

UBISOFT did a good job figuring out how to bypass some firewalls and network restrictions by opening your browser instead of internal modules. BEWARE of this; it could cost you even more money since any Amazon Appstore protection is non-existent through the browser.

Shameful. Absolutely shameful.

2.0 out of 5 stars From a Long Time Ubisoft Fan, You Broke My Heart Today August 30, 2014

First thing first, the 6 megabyte download listed in the Amazon App Store description is VASTLY misleading: it's only an install patch. Open it and get the actual size of this game, fully installed, at 187mbs (but did move the majority of it to my SD card automatically, leaving 10mbs on my device). A far cry from six.

Secondly, this is yet another game that doesn't run OFFLINE consistently. Yet again, while shooting my video review, I was offline, and when I opened the game, it gave me an Internal Service Error (as shown in my video). It wants to go online to "update" the advertising. Enforcing ONLINE play for advertising purposes really makes me unhappy.

Finally, I have always been a longtime admire of Ubisoft and their games (although my youngest brother is far more into the RAYMAN franchise than I am), especially on the PlayStation platforms, and this is the first time I have had a chance to see how they work the Android market. And I wish they really had stayed to their original marketing strategy: making really cool games and let people love them enough to continue buying more... without the terrible habitual advertising abuse that so many other "giants" have slapped across their Android releases.

This game is simple, colorful, fluid, energetic, and just plain fun. But it's also one heck of a mega-marketing vehicle for Ubisoft. There is a link under [Options] to their Privacy Policy, which I read through and am generally satisfied that there isn't any mercenary shenanigans that Rovio (and others) like to pull. Still, this game does indeed have IAP: Unlock All Levels, and a "Hero Package" that gives you another character and two costumes. Also the MORE GAMES presence is heavy...

2.0 out of 5 stars Excitement soon turned sour August 30, 2014

When I 1st seen this as the FAOTD I was surprised, but that soon turned when I seen those 3 little words "in-app purchases". I couldn't believe it, are there no paid games under there Rayman name that don't have this? Why are you taking a page from 'Angry Birds Go' dev? As a consumer when apps cost money you expect to not get cheated & bled dry per game. That's like buying dinner out then getting charged extra for a plate, glass, fork & the table & chair to sit & you can't even take any of it home.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best $2.99 ever spent? September 30, 2012
My friend was over at my house last week, and he realized that Rayman Jungle Run came out that very day, a couple hours before he noticed. Out of curiosity, I told him to download it onto his phone. Out of his own curiosity (and my demand, I guess), he downloaded it. And then as he began to play it, I was blown away instantly (And I constantly begged for turns before I actually did get to play it). I loved Rayman Origins, and I was really looking forward to at least playing Rayman Legends, too. However, this game single-handedly allowed me to (be able to) wait.

So what IS Rayman Jungle Run? A port of Rayman 2? Nope! Rayman Jungle Run is a one-button platformer (With Rayman automatically running) utilizing gameplay from Rayman Origins! You'd think this probably wouldn't work out so well, but believe me: It was incredible. The levels are divided into 4 categories: Jump, Fly, Wall Run & Punch. And they are all based on a new mechanic (As you can tell) that is introduced for each one. All this by simply tapping the screen? Yup. Ubisoft and Pastagames are companies full of geniuses, as this game works flawlessly.

On top of the remarkable gameplay is the fact that the game looks downright beautiful. The new environments in this game look as terrifically colorful and whimsical as the environments in Rayman Origins were.
