Go with the new Ubuntu releases (you can download them directly from the Ubuntu website for free) and give this package a pass. Please note that some of the other glowing reviews here disuss not this distro... but rather Linux in general etc etc. Look, we like Linux or we wouldn't be here, right? Imo we should be reviewing the product, not making a general commentary on...

I am a IT Tech in the Army, we don't use Linux a lot though. I have used it off and on over the past few years but an bu no means a Guru on Linux. Started using Ubuntu 2 years ago. It's a lot easier than most version of Linux out there. I definately recommend it for a beginner, switching over from Windows is a lot easier than you might think with Ubuntu. Have a special program that only runs on Windows? Most likely not a problem with Wine, the Windows emulator.
The videos included are useful though I don't think the handout card with the commands will be very useful for a beginner, better off looking up what you are trying to do on the Ubuntu forums or google it. The set includes both the 32 bit and the 64 bit versions. There's never been a better time to walk away from Windows if you are primarily using computers for internet, email or basic business, If you are a extensive gamer, well, Windows might be for you, There are games for Linux and games that run in Wine, but Windows is likely where you want to stay.

THIS DISTRO is simply not a good distro. Not to mention that as of this writing Ubuntu 10.4 is out so... no need for this any more.)

3.0 out of 5 stars Ubuntu Package, June 26, 2008

I was convinced to purchase this package because it offered a 'commercial' Ubuntu 8.04 CD along with a training CD. Whatr it doesn't tell you is that the training information could easily fit on a 1.44 M floppy disk. The Ubuntu 8.04 is available free to download. And at about 10-cents a blank CD, it only costs you the dinme and your time to download and burn the CD.But for the training, it would be worth the over 12 dollars for the package. The training consists of four PDF files. Not a lot of training. I bit and was not pleased with the 'bargain,' but it was my fault fopr expecting more than they delivered. At least I have a very professional copy of Ubuntu 8.04.

DVD X DVD was a great company. My DVD did not work, they sent me a new one and then sent me a CD when my DVD still did not read it. Customer service was GD exceptional.
Now know I am the guy that still complains that MS bailed on MS-DOS, and got on quite well but still cuss that stupid windows XP. And would live to stick it to Bill Gates like he does to me.

But do not set out on the Unix journey if you are on dialup. It is not the place for you.
I was amazed that UBUNTU took in everything but my MODEM. It found my usb disks, my zip disks, my HP printer and scanner, my SD cards.
If I were just in DSL or Wireless, It might be heaven. And BG's would be my bitch. And nothing makes me happier than Billie with lipstick, squeeling like a pig.

JUST SAYIN'
